Completed Projects

Expansion of Tunis - The Port facilities of Tunis and its administrative facilities have been greatly renewed, along with the coastal defenses of the city.

Ongoing

Anti-Infection Methods - 1 year (1886)

Locomotive Improvements - 1 year (1886)

Healing Improvements - 5 years (1890)

Food Improvements - 5 years (1890)

New Projects

North African Railroads - the Mediterranean coastline, along the provinces of Africa and Mauritania, already have a railroad in place. We are looking to extend that railroad into the new provinces of Morocco, the Atlantic Maghreb, and the Atlas mountains - one line heading down the coast, and another towards Marrakech and Ouarzazate in the mountains, which we plan to be centers of development for the region's mining industry. 4 years (1889)

Great Walls of Wallachia-first part of 4 stages, we are building and expanding the walls around our country to improve our defenses. These walls will also include underground tunnels, forts/castles, and artillery positions. 10

Centurion-inspirised the Spartans of old, our Voivode has begun a training regimen of the strongest male children recruited from serfs. They will be trained from a young age and indoctrinated into an elite bodyguard force that protects our voivodes. 10

Clan Expansion-Expanding our Vampire Clans to the Crusader states and ensuring our 'colony' has suitable regents in charge of our many princedoms in it. 5

Legacy of the Impaler-very very large, mostly stationary cannons. They are designed to shoot a decent amount of large explosive shells quickly (in 'volleys') to quickly decimate troops charging us or to destroy rebellious voivodes' castles.

Um, how many years has it been? All my projects take a full century (overkill, in hindsight)

5 years. Tomorrow it’s 6.
If you think some of your projects are small and should be shorter you can shorten it.

Completed Projects (1886)

Anti-Infection Methods - Major steps towards handling of and dealing with infection and infectious diseases have been achieved in the Republic - through mundane, Maesters, or a combination of both methods. Implementation of these methods are spreading to every hospital and clinic within the entire Republic - with a wave of new vaccinations, and new Maester techniques.

Locomotive Improvements - new designs of locomotives, particularly in mountainous terrains, have been created and decided - with proof of concept improvements set up across all of Northern Italy. These are being added to across the entire Republic - particularly useful in the ongoing construction in the Atlas.

Ongoing

Healing Improvements - 4 years (1890)

Food Improvements - 4 years (1890)

North African Railroads - 3 years (1889)

New Projects

Infectious Safeguards - the discoveries into infectious diseases have yielded a pair of new avenues. First, the insight by one of the Maesters of Modena University had - that many of the worst diseases are alive. With her help, several researchers are investigating new medicinal avenues for treating and killing those effectively - coined 'anti-biotics'. The second avenue is focused on the Art of Healing, and how Maesters can mentally delve 'inside' patients' bodies to help them defeat and remove the disease. There were hints of this achieved through a meditative trance, but there are hopes to make that easier to achieve and with greater results - particularly with the far more detailed understanding of the human body achieved in the Republic. 6 years (1892)

Integration of Africa - the State of Africa, centered on the city of Tunisia, has long been within the Republic. With increasing development and integration of the region within the wider republic, it is time to move it from a colonial State, to a Department of the Republic. Over the next few years, there will be an administrative and infrastructural push to achieve this, along with the expansion of the colonial forces from 50,000 to 100,000. 1 year for the army expansion, 4 for the integration (1887, 1890).

Education Reform: An expansion of the Math Faculty at Moscow State University named for MV Lomonosov, as well as the formation of universities in provincial Rus. While the focus on Greek and Slavonic letters will remain influential, an increasingly science-based approach will come to the fore, especially in the fields of math and engineering. 10 years.

Song of the Saints: Through devout prayer and vocal training, Russian priests will be able to sing devoutly in such a manner that strikes down demons and converts the unbeliever. 5yr

Growth of maritime trade: Odessa will be developed as a major seaport, in order to replace the role in international trade held by St Petersburg. The docks will be repaired and expanded, the city will enjoy rail lines to more locations, and the merchant fleet will enjoy a subsidy. 10yr.

The Bears Need Jesus: The bears will be educated in the ways of the Lord as they are God-fearing animals. 3 years.

Brown-water navy: The Tsardom doesn't do the ocean war: but does have a ton of rivers. The development of a series of shallow-bottomed craft will allow us to control our internal waters and oush down the many rivers of Rus into foreign land. 5 years.

Completed Projects (1889)

North African Railroads - The expansion of railroads across the Northwest African coastline, from Tangier to the Senegal river and into the Atlas mountains towards Marrakech and Ouarzazate have been completed. The new lines tie together the regions with the administrative heart of Africa, the city of Tunis, and enable faster travel, trade, and economic development (particularly with investments in the mines of the Atlas).

Ongoing

Healing Improvements - 1 year (1890)

Food Improvements - 1 year (1890)

Infectious Safeguards - 3 years (1892)

Integration of Africa - 1 year (1890)

New Projects

Messina Bridge - the next large scale infrastructure project of the Cisalpine Republic is found at the Straits of Messina - namely, the creation of the world's largest and longest bridge linking the Italian mainland and Sicily. 400 million Lire are being dedicated to its construction, along with the surrounding area's railroad network's connection, expansion, and other related infrastructure. 6 years (1895)

They will also be capable of dropping a decent payload of bombs. They are going to be large, armored flying fortresses. Not super accurate, as these are VERY early models (some of the earliest models were operable in 1885, but were not especially advanced). Will be followed up by another project to actually perfect the design, but I want at least a working model in about 10 years.

10 Years - Schwimmende Festungen (Floating Fortresses) - These are going to be VERY heavy duty Ironclads armed with 4 cannon on each side, 2 Gatling Gun emplacements on top, and a mortar. Ironclads were, while somewhat uncommon, definitely decent and readily available by this time period. In 10 years, I want a really top notch model. Meant to be used in relatively small numbers, but very effective.

10 Years - Automobiles - Civilian and military early Automobiles. The military version will be slightly more covered/armored (much like a carriage), but will primarily be used for quick transport of high-ranking officials and carrying wounded from the battlefield (the medical version is known as a Krankenwagen).

10 Years - Kriegswagen - A strange design for an armored vehicle, it is a wood and metal armored wagon that is completely enclosed. In essence, it is a small mobile fortress. It is horse-drawn (and needs 4 horses to pull at any real speed), but rather resilient. The wagon is armed with a Gatling Gun and can carry up to ten infantry (who can fire through small slits in the walls of the wagon). It is meant as a way of quickly fortifying a position and providing rapid and effective cover for infantry forces.

10 Years - Cipher Automatons - A simple clockwork machine capable only of writing simple encoded messages. The big draw, however, is that only Automatons by the same maker can write in the same cipher. Additionally, one must have the Automaton, a physical key to activate it, and the correct sequence in which to turn the key (much like a combination padlock, but key-activated). Each machine is large, approximately human-sized. This will make it very easy to send secret and secure communiques as necessary.

Ordinary writing automatons are also, of course, available, but primarily as a pastime for the masses.

These are all done now.

New projects:

U-Boot - 5 years - A light ironclad submarine meant for hit-and-run operations. Built for speed and agility, and very advanced. To be used in relatively small numbers.

Luger pistol - 5 years - A very accurate and very deadly sidearm. It will be standard issue for all military personell when developed.

Tank - 10 years - Basic model tank for making pushes into entrenched positions. I know it's pushing the timberline by a few years, but I figure the ability to power them with batteries counts for something, right?

Cultural simulation - 10 years - Let's have some art, music, theater, and all of that! Government grants worth 1 research slot will be stimulating the development of culture in the Alpenkonföderation.

Machine guns - 10 years - will replace gatling guns. Much better, fully automatic (not requiring someone to crank out by hand), and with greater range and accuracy.

Actually, 10 years from 1880 is 1890, and by my count we're in 1889. Should be the 18th when we cross over to the next decade.

Not to say these all needed 10 years obviously, but if that's the length you wanted them you still have 1 year to go on it ;)

Done:

Basic Wind Magic: 5 Years Some lame wind magic not as good as plundered magic. Should help us with fair winds.

Improved Armored Corvettes: 5 Years Improving our cheapest island defense craft.

Steampunk Navigational Equipment: 5 Years: Over-engineered steam-powered navigational equipment.

Steampunk Peg-legs: 5 Years Over-engineered steam-powered prosthetic legs and arms.

---

Ongoing:

Black Ships: 10 Years The creation of "Black Ships," a faster, better armed sail-steam hybrid ironclad. It hits fast and hard.

---

New:

All or Nothing Armor Planning: One shot to the 5 Years

Chemical munition advancements: Need to fire bigger sea guns. 5 Years

Superior Naval Optics and Range finding: Advancing our ability to target at range. 5 Years

Dread Class Battleships: A revolutionary ship design developed in tandem with the above technologies. It uses an all-or-nothing armor scheme and improved range-finding to justify massive, central guns. The ship will be able to absolutely devastate lesser battleships at terrifying range. 100 years from now, historians will separate battleship development into two eras: before and after the Dread. 5 Years.
