OOC can someone please tell me what common techs are, what I can e assumed to have, what I don't have, but could get in the next few years, and what geeral research paths are.

You'll find a list of public-domain techs at the start of this thread bumped to the top of the main page for you, containing all the techs you'd already have from the start.

You can also use them as a starting point for other tech projects you want to pursue yourself, tailoring your own improvements along the way.

EG - MAC/Medical Administration Cloth was already a public-domain when I arrived, but I picked it up and developed my own tech off it - the Comfort Blanket - as I saw further potential in it (developing the Arch-Angel and Guardian-Angel comfort blankets - one for civilian use, the other for field medics and other operational specialists - both of which I've now made public-domain as well).

It's updated every now and then, when someone makes one of their techs available as public-domain, but not sure when that last was, so maybe check with someone else.

You're also allowed a distinctive tech of your own (could be something military, or medical, or something else a little different), but I'm not sure about the details, so again, best to get someone else to fill in those blanks.

Also, as long as a tech project is intended for the benefit of the people/general population and not for the military, then the ATD (Applied Technologies Division) of the PCG is happy to help as an R&D partner.

I do believe the last major bump was when matt and I dumped SP-level miltech into the public domain. Not the SPest of SPs - eg, Mattopian lasers and Venusian missiles, so I still have an edge on lasers and he has a missile advantage - but still pretty damn good.

The distinctive starting tech is basically whatever you want, adjusted for balance. Just pick something and post it and it's yours - assuming the community thinks its fine. So nothing gamebreaking like teleportation or OP but there's a lotta leeway.
