While we all know Jon will come back somehow, I hope it's not like this, or at least not like the other two times we've see a red priest revive someone from death. When Beric kept getting revived by Thoros, he steadily lost more and more of himself and was forgetting who he really was. He still tried to keep to his mission though, but when he gave his life to bring Cat back, she turned out to be, well, Stoneheart. It remains to be seen what the effect will be from Vic getting his infected arm becoming some kind of super arm at the hands of his red priest.

I'd rather see some kind of situation where the stabs turned out to not be fatal, and that he either gets put on ice until he recovers or perhaps wargs into Ghost while he's in a coma or something. Lol, I don't wan't Mel's taint on Jon. Let the old gods take care of him.

Here here. I agree with your thoughts, and would like to add that there is no way that George R.R. Marin would've killed off such a fan favorite in such an ambiguous way. If he was completely dead, we'd know it.

No way GRRM would kill off a fan favourite, huh? Please don't test him like that! :?

I seem to remember hearing somewhere that GRRM blatantly said at one of those Cons he always goes to that Jon isn't gone yet. He probably said it as vaguely as that, so as not to give away just how Jon stays around, but he's not gone for good.

Hopefully, this manages to accomplish something that perhaps GRRM planned for the five year gap he was planning for all the characters, but decided he couldn't follow through with. Maybe he masters his warging abilities, which have been strongly hinted at. We already know that Rob was good at it, and Brand and Arya are seemingly becoming very good.

I'm not saying he wouldn't kill off a fan favorite, just not in such a... plain fashion. Think about it, Robb, Joffery (not a fan favorite, but still a main character), Ned, all of these characters died in such a way that you knew they were dead. I don't think George R. R. likes anything that doesn't have a complete sense of closure. If it was stated at the beginning of the next book that Jon had died, I would be very skeptical about it.

Young Griff turns out to be a trick, a Blackfyre pretender in disguise, foreshadowed by the story of the black dragon sign washing up rusted with red. Varys and the Cheesemonger are involved in a plot to seize the throne for the Blackfyres, and hence they have been destabilising the Seven Kingdoms internally and have hired the one sellsword company which just so happens to have a story steeped in Blackfyre history. But the kicker - Young Griff doesn't know that this is the case, he truly believes that he is a Targaryen. Young Griff conquers the Seven Kingdoms swiftly and decisively as they stand divided and shattered from their multiple wars in recent years, and Varys' handiwork. He marries Arianne of Dorne after rumours of Dany's death reach Westeros and are 'confirmed' by Varys - who of course has a vested interest in this. Cersei finally dies in some dramatic ending (ala poisoning herself and Tommen).

Once Dany finally reaches Westeros (6 books after her journey began...), she finds that there is no space for her to rule - 'Aegon' seems to have a better claim to the throne, he is married and there is an imminent threat looming in the north. She sets aside her desires for rule, finally, and instead takes up her mantle as Azor Ahai reborn, leading the fight against the Others.

Other predictions: Jon Snow is revived by Melissandre (turns out she let him die on purpose, just to see if she could revive him after hearing of Thoros' miracles), the men of the Watch have an even tougher time accepting him amongst them, let alone as their leader, and he becomes the King beyond the Wall. Fortunately for him, all of the wildlings happen to have just been transported onto the right side of the wall! He claims the gift, new gift and all 17 castles for himself and topples the Night's Watch. His personality has been warped by his death and resurrection, and it seems at times that Melissandre has created a monster.

My prediction as to who ends up on the throne ultimately, at the end of book 7? Littlefinger. Getting that one in nice and early! No idea how he manages it, but he thrives on chaos and that's all I can see coming in the next two books.

I hope he gets to aid the Night's Watch in the fight against the white walkers somehow, by travelling to the Land of Always Winter via that psych-link or whatever it's called (I've been reading too much Warhammer 40k), but I'd prefer it if he remained "dead" to the rest of the kingdom.

I think it's likely that he's going to transform into one of the Children of the Forest, and remain in that cavern that he's in right now until he dies, just with psychic links to the outside.

Zzzzzzzzzz... BORING!

I say he gets a psych link with the WALRUS LEGIONS OF THE NORTH EAST and leads them to save Westeros from the White Walkers and then mans all of the forts of the Night's Watch with the innumerable legions and stands ever vigilant against the Old Foes.
The Night's will be confused as to why the Walrus's came to the aid of humans, but they'll explain it away as another mystery of the North and will become the stewards of the Walrus's (Walri?).

The rest of the kingdom will shrug off the tales that head south as more "grumkins and snarks".
