I've never played one so long. Usually 24/24/24. These are so long I forget who I am, who I'm allied with. What the plan was. :o Have to go back and reread everything that was sent. Whew! Wouldn't be so bad if people would finalize! ;) Oh well, I signed up for it. :|

Keep a running summary. A document on your desktop- a small 4 sentence summary of whats gone on so far. It helps to be able to look through the whole game as things progress without looking back through order history and messages- time consuming and confusing.

Or play fewer games, and put more effort into each of them. It makes it much easier to concentrate on what's going on, and makes each game much more enjoyable.

Yeah, I have to say I think I'm liking the extended time for negotiations here. At least for the first few seasons. Nice change of pace.

I once played a game where deadlines were a week long.

Once.

Never again.

I am finding longer deadlines produce a higher quality of Shoutbox. Although I worry about the effect on players' mental health - if anyone wants to see what I mean, take a quick glance at the shoutbox on PCC 3.1. It is very disturbing. http://www.playdiplomacy.com/shoutbox_messages.php?game_id=20859

Thank you for drawing attention to that, dipsy: some real gems. I must say: those Austrian comments are particularly good.

With respect to 3/2/2 times - absolutely brilliant - resulting in a much better quality of game (may be the players), with lots of comms, changes of plans etc, and with 3 days on an orders phase it allows lots of options to come out where you've got opposing 'allies'. Really enjoying it. If its too slow; get some more games on the go. Though i'm going to have to cut mine down!! I'm in 2 of these PCCs (won't say which ones) and 2 others. CAn't wait to get rid of a couple - this is costing me an hour a day. Way too much. Must spend more time in RL... Should be mAx 15-20 mins on games, then get sucked into forum for another 15-20, Argh!!!
