Diplomacy is a good strategy card

Postby PristoMiky » 06 May 2021, 15:09

Seems like Diplomacy is the stepchild of TI strategy cards, often ignored, and finally taken once it has a small pile of Trade Goods on it. It seems to be a later game pick, when people want to keep their home systems safe, or if you are Xxcha. Does anyone have good stories, or examples of good Diplomacy play? If so, I would like to hear them.

I have one from my last game. A friend of mine was playing his first game, he was Federation of Sol. During the mid game, the Speaker token was mostly switching between the 2 players on his left, so he decided to take Diplo. His neighbor on the left was Sardakk, who was stuck between an Asteroid Field and the Supernova. Sol's units were blocking him into his slice and he was locking that system down with Diplo. It really hampered Sardakk's expansion and was a neat thing to see from a new player with a fresh perspective on the game.192.168.0.1 routerlogin 192.168.l.l

The last part of this guys name is the same as the last part of the guy from the previous posts name too. "What are the best alternative rules/maps?" - Miky.
Both look like they've joined today.
It was similar last week, 2 consecutive threads from new players, both with the last part of their username as Viggo.
Fairly sure they were spam too.

He's talking about the game Twilight Imperium. Not sure why he's doing that here, though.
