D1 May ends in another (no pun intended) solo. I had thought, observing the game around 1903, that this was going to be one of the more competitive games in the league, but the longer it went on, the more it became clear that another was not going to be stopped. Indeed, I think the solo was forced a full year in advance of when it actually happened.
Nice Trieste Gambit, by the way. One of my two favorite ways to play an I/A out of the opening. For those not observing the game closely, the I/A was so effective that Turkey was mowed down and ruthlessly knocked out of all his home centers early on, despite gaining Sevastopol as a second build in 1901. I fully plan on using this game as a counterexample to anyone who says Turkey's best path to victory is through Russia early. (The real answer, as with just about everything, is "it depends".)
In addition to the solo vaulting another to the league lead (since he inherited Durkeety's earlier draw, he is the only player with more than one non-loss result), that now makes 4 solos in 6 D1 league games. That is a staggering ratio.
