ODC Round 4 underway

Round 4 has been initiated.

It appears that the original 3 games I created on November 26th were reinstated so if you were invited to any of those, the original messages I sent on 26th November are still valid. Please sign up if you haven't already. It appears that those who signed up before the hack have been re-joined to the games. game 1 has 6 players, Games 2 and 3 have only 4 players. If you haven't already done so, please message me to confirm if you've signed up. This will help me identify who the missing players are so I can replace them.

Due to the site shutdown, I will extend the deadline for people to join their assigned games until Wednesday 7th, before I tap into the reserves list.

Also, the sooner one of the first 3 games goes active, the sooner I can start up game 4.

game 4 has been created. So by now all 28 players should have received a message from me with their Round 4 game, password and power.

game 2 now has all 7 players joined. They just need to click confirm and the game will start.

There are still 4 players yet to sign up for their Round 4 games. It is possible that some may have been affected by the site shut down and are under the belief that they are already signed up. I know of at least 1 player who had to re-join their game as they got booted from it during the site re-set.

Could I ask any tournament players reading this to please post an anonymous message in your Round 3 game Public Press to remind all players to check if they have indeed signed up for round 4. Only 1 message required per game. I want to give players fair notice that a few are missing before I head to the replacements list. Obviously I can't name the missing players here, nor reveal to you which round 3 games they are in.

Round 4 is now underway with game 4 just begun. One further player was replaced by a stand in.

I will continue to monitor games in case replacement are required but players are reminded that games should continue even if a power is abandoned or surrendered.

When these final 2 rounds are complete I will set up the medal round starting with the top board. I anticipate this will be roughly March so please check in again when your games are finished to see what the latest tournament schedule is.

Happy New Year. A few housekeeping topics to cover.

Firstly, I am looking for a replacement for Round 4 game 2. If you’re not in that game but are happy to fill in to complete the game, please let me know by private message and I’ll send you the details. I’ve already reached out to a few potential reserves so it’s first in best dressed. The game result will have no bearing on the tournament score for the replacement player.

Secondly, a reminder to please re-read the opening post in “ODC Round 3 underway” as well as the initial rules published by Malarky in “PCO / ODC IV – RULES”. To quote myself “I will be implementing the rules as set out by Malarky so far as is practicable”. This will clarify some of the concerns players have raised. In particular, the procedures for NMR’s. There is no NMR protection except for the 1st phase (which has past for all games). So if you don’t enter orders, the turn will process without you and the game continues. 2 successive NMR’s and you will be auto_surrendered. This no doubt has the potential to cause huge shifts of power within the game. However, as it is part of the mechanics of online diplomacy / playdiplomacy, it is something you will have to deal with and mitigate against.
