Hi everyone,
I have taken it upon myself to assume the position of Tournament Director. I don't have any credentials as TD but I have participated in tournaments on this site for the last 5 years. So hopefully this give you some assurance that I'm regularly checking the message board and my inbox, and that I'm committed to seeing this tournament through to the end.
I will be implementing the rules as set out by Malarky so far as is practicable. I will also be taking a "get on with the show" attitude, particularly in relation to people missing deadlines.
In terms of getting on with the show, I have truncated the player list to 28 so we'll have 4 boards for round 3. CapturingBravo has been moved to the replacements list because as far as I can tell they were the last one's to confirm for Round 3. DungDefender and WarSmith have also been added to the replacements list. The 28 players were seeded based on Round 1 scores, placed into 7 pots of 4 and then randomly allocated to one of the 4 games. Players on equal scores were randomly ordered to determine which pots they were placed in. Players who have already met twice were placed in separate pots. Within each game, players were randomly allocated to a country they have not played yet. For exact details on how I did the random allocation, please watch the FIFA world cup draw.
3 games have already been set up for Round 3. I will need to wait until one of them goes active before I can set up the fourth game due to site constraints. Some of you have already received private messages inviting you to join with all of the relevant details. I have given you a week to join before I tap into the replacements list. Please do not publicly say "I haven't received anything yet" as that will give away that you're in the fourth game! If a replacement player is used to fill in any vacancy, they are not bound by the 2 game limit between any two players.
A reminder of some of the game parameters:
Countries are assigned by "Preference" so please choose your allocated power for all 3 preferences. If you do not, I will need to restart the game.
Deadlines are 3 days for moves and 1 day for retreats and builds.
No deadlines on Christmas or New Years Day. This wasn't mentioned in Malarky's rules but at the start of this tournament I was expecting it to be done before Christmas.
1st phase has NMR protection. After that, there is no protection. NMR means a power's unit will act as witches hats for you to drive around or over as you please; the game continues. If there's a surrender, please let me know and I'll ask a replacement player to step in. But the game continues! I have absolutely no desire (nor power) to delay deadlines or interfere with the games. However, the in game pause is still available if players want to make requests.
Draws do not have to include all survivors and can be agreed to in the public press prior to 1912. Survivors not included in the draw will still score points based on their SC's at the time the draw is agreed to.
Once the 4 games have been set up and begun, I will begin organizing the games for Round 4. So this could take up to 2 weeks. I will assume that everyone who participates in Round 3 also wants to be in Round 4. Please advise by private message if this is not the case for you. Also please advise if you wish to be on the replacement's list for Round 4.
Hopefully I have covered all salient points here but feel free to ask if there's something I've missed.
Good luck and happy stabbing.
