They should be ranked. Still just a game. The tourney part ends after 07 but the game does not. Unless the other 6 want to surrender to..........Me!

I would highly suggest making it a rule that everyone who signs up for this tournament agrees to end the game in a DIAS draw after the seventh year completes. And again, the games should be Unrated.

The last thing you want is to have a conflict of interest, whereby a group of players are playing for a 3-way when the concept of draw size is intentionally meaningless in this type of scoring system.

I really have to agree with NoPun (and asu):
These games should be norank and ended in a DIAS draw after the seventh year completes.

Btw, later this month, I'm planning on posting an announcement of a different tournament.
Mine will be a ~42 player mystery tournament. All games anonymous players and probably even anonymous sign-ups by PMing me (so don't tell anyone whether or not you may or may not be playing in it).
It will be a different map variant for each of the 4 games: 2 simultaneous qualifying games per player, 1 semi for each of 20 (if Ancient Med. is voted on) or 21 players, and final game of War in the Americas for the top 10.
I do not mean this post as an advertisement, just as an fyi.
I might try to leave at least one month between your game starts and mine to accommodate anyone who wants to play in both tournaments.

Go on then, although I will withdraw if I reach the second round of the Online Dip Tourny. You can call me Sutpen.

Isn't there a site rule stating that any tournament game using a scoring system that is not *purely* draw-based must be unrated? (Technically this rule was broken for PDET17 if I recall correctly.)

I say, score your tourney after 07, who cares, but the games must be played out like any Dip game. If you can't commit to that, don't sign up.

I’m sorry Shiv, but you’re completely wrong here. This would be an AWFUL idea. The strategies that make 7-year games particularly different and interesting are those that rely on the fact that the game *will* end. It’s a risk/reward approach, where stalemate lines are often unimportant. If players have to consider the possibility that the game will continue past the seventh year, they won’t be able to actually play Super Pastis games.

The scoring isn’t just a midgame afterthought. It’s an essential core piece of the gameplay.

To add to what NP is saying, making the games ranked and having the players play the games past 1907 would seemingly defeat the purpose of having a tournament that runs with the same rules as WDC2019.
