Dawn of the Enlightenment has been updated. The map has numerous changes, but more important are the rules changes and simplification. The variable strength unit and Supply Center concept has been dropped, and the multiple unit High Seas concept has been converted into a rule similar to, but simpler than, the Sea Lanes rule. The five Oceanic provinces are merely indicators of adjacency. The seven High Seas provinces in each Oceanic province are all adjacent to the neighboring sea provinces. The previous and current versions of the variant are linked here, and the rules are on the maps.

Dawn of the Enlightenment is set, at least for now. The latest changes are fairly minor, eliminating the Sea of Chile, adjusting the borders or Guarania, and then some cosmetic changes along with making the rules a little clearer. The current map can be found on the variant webpage: http://davidecohen.wixsite.com/diplomiscellany, or here: https://i.ibb.co/JHvGQQ2/Dot-E-v2-0.png.

Next step will be running a playtest. It has become my habit to play in the second playtests of my variants, so I suppose I am looking for 14 more players and a GM.

We have 6 players and a GM, so we need 9 more players. Step up folks. The variant has been simplified, but I think it still presents an unusual play experience, with the potential for a very fluid game tactically speaking, as well as interaction with a lot of players due to the sprawling nature of the Powers having colonial empires.

Sorry Antigonos, I had to go with a small type size in order to fit names in the smaller provinces. But you can always up the magnification on your screen/on a downloaded map.

We got a few more players but we still need several more to fill the roster. You think you're good at this game? Let me find out just how good you are!

I have a challenge for those who have taken an interest in this variant: I do not think there are any stalemate lines. Take a shot and see if you can find some.

Hey David - I'm really interested in this variant but 1turn/2weeks is just a little too slow for me. I'd also be very interested in GMing in here on PlayDip/Discord once you've completed this playtest!
