Variants to be played:
Vikings

Set on a familiar looking map with drastically different interior lines, and including rivers, Vikings is an 8 player game, and will last 9 game years.
Baltic

Baltic is a 4 player game set in the Baltics region in 1001. There will be two rounds of Baltic played--each team must play at least one game of Baltic, and may play in both Baltic rounds if they choose to (only their best score will be counted). The Baltic games will last at most 7 game years.
Medieval

Medieval starts in 1411, and is an 8 player game. Like Vikings, Medieval is a game set on a familiar looking map with very different interior lines. Medieval will last at most 9 game years.
Scoring system:
The scoring system is fantastic, and comes courtesy of our own Alex Ronke/NoPunIn10Did. It's based off of Carnage scoring, which is used widely in FtF tournaments, it's called Fibonacci Scoring, and here is how it works:
Fibonacci Scoring is a rank based system, meaning that it doesn't matter how many players are involved in the draw, only where you rank amongst them. For Medieval and Vikings, points are distributed as such:
8th—1200
7th—1200
6th—2400
5th—3600
4th—6000
3rd—9600
2nd—15600
1st—27600
With 80000 points awarded for a solo. So, for example, a 14 center board topper will score the same no matter if there are 3 other players alive or 7.
For Baltic, the points are distributed as such:
4th—4800
3rd—4800
2nd—9600
1st—14400
With 40000 points awarded for a solo.
In addition, every SC counts for one point (so it's a tiebreaker only, basically). Ties in position will be averaged--so a tie for 5th in Vikings would result in each team being awarded 3000 points. The maximum number of points you can score without a solo is 69658 (three board tops with the most possible SC without soloing), which isn't enough to beat a solo in either Vikings or Medieval, but could defeat a solo in Baltic (depending on the soloists other results).
Note that only one round of Baltic will be counted towards a teams score, although they may play both--so if Team X scores 4800 in the first Baltic round, decides to play again and scores 9600, only the 9600 score will be counted towards their tournament score.
How will country assignment be handled?
Country assignment and board assignment will be handled separately. The GM will determine board assignment each round, and country assignment will be handled via country draft. In the first round, the GM will assign a number, 1-8, to each player. That player will then have to choose which country they wish to play in that round. So, for example, if Team X is assigned number 1, they can choose to play, say, Burgundy. Then the team assigned number 2 can choose any other country, and so on and so on.
After the first round, board assignments will still be handled by the GM, and the country draft will be seeded in reverse order of standing--so if Team X has the lowest score on their Baltic board, they'd pick first. Whereas if they have the highest score on their board they would pick last (and thus be left with whatever country isn't picked!).
So to recap: board assignment is done by GM, and country assignment is done by draft.
