Diplomacy of Ice & Fire II: Fall 301 AC

Postby Aeschines » 23 Jul 2018, 14:42

Winter 301 AC orders are due July 24 at 9pm Eastern Standard Time!

A Spider's Notes: 301/F,

The body of the Last Prince of Dorne was barely cool when Lord Stannis Baratheon declared himself King of the Seven Kingdoms and Protector of the Realm. He wasted no time in appointing Ser Groo as the commander of his Kingsguard and bade the forces loyal to the Iron Throne to seize and despoil Casterly Rock. To the frustrations of the new King, however, Lord Tywin managed to arrange for his children to flee the doomed castle to seek refuge with the Starks in Winterfell. Though I would be shocked to find Robb and Cersei enjoying marital bliss, stranger things have happened in the Seven Kingdoms.

The promise of Cersei's hand in marriage does finally seem to have roused the old wolf from his slumber, though I must confess it seems more like he is rolling over in his sleep than anything else. Lord Eddard continues to hold the passes to the north from all comers - though a recent journey by the Targaryen's may be calling even that into question. The dragon-sailed ships of Lady Daenerys (whose halls did not echo with tragedy at the death of her brother) have sailed north into the Shivering Sea. If she means to bring the warmth of war to the shores of the Old Gods, I do not expect the sleeping wolf to be able to stop her. However, her closest advisers have begun to chafe at the idea (and one must assume she is as well) that Lord Stannis would claim overlordship over the Seven Kingdoms and King's Landing, in spite of her royal lineage. If she instead turns southward to claim her throne, the wolf may have many opportunities to feast on the dead.

All who walk the halls of power walk the spider's web.

Iskis the Spider

"Hear Me Roar!"

Groo - House Baratheon
Dear Iskis,

Have you heard the tale of a brainless barbarian named Groo who charges into battle with his two katanas and slices and dices everyone on his way? Those who met him say he's worse than an earthquake or a storm or even a horde of Dothraki riders. Some say he has Dothraki blood, while others say he's a demon or even a demi-god.

Image

He can single-handedly defeat the whole armies, but then again - HE doesn't know who is he fighting with or against, he just enjoys fighting. The smell of death, the thirst of battle, the wealth, and most importantly FOOD he believes he's promised are driving him. He doesn't really seem to know who are his allies and who is the enemy so he slays left and right driven by a belief that he's doing what he's supposed to - because, if what they say is true he is slow of mind, a simpleton.
Image
Image

I'm telling you all this because that man...that monster...THE GROO...has joined the battle! It was a terrifying site. He was on...HIS SIDE at first, slaying both our forces and the Lannisters for no apparent reason.
Image

Thankfully, our Lord Stannis found a way to deal with him. Stannis said a certain Sage helped him in talking Groo into attacking Castlery Rock, but don't ask me how he reasoned with that monster.
Image

I can tell you the orders our armies and fleets were given:
Army Groo Riverrun -> Castlery Rock... succeeded
A Stoney Sept -> Riverrun... succeeded
A Westerlands s Riverrun -> Castlery Rock... supported unit succeeded
A Stormlands -> King's Landing... succeeded
F Griffin's Roost -> Sea of Dorne... succeeded
F Sea of Dorne -> Godsgrace... succeeded
F Stepstones -> Sunspear... succeeded

but in all honesty, all we're doing right now near Castlery Rock is waiting to see if Groo will "do what he does best" and somehow miraculously take the castle. What will happen nobody knows.
Yours truly,
Onion Knight

OK. This is fine.

How long until we have either a Baratheon sandwich or a Baratheon solo? Westeros wonders.

Also Aeschines,

Because no one has made her leave?

But actually, with the player eliminated the sigil has no in-game effect

I decided to leave prince Doran as a provisional governor and let him stay im Dorne to take care of the paperwork. He bent the knee so lord Stannis was merciful.

Congraz on the Wedding, by the way. Who would have thought! Well played, nonetheless.
