The long awaited 2PC Tourney Title Match

Postby TTBen » 11 Oct 2018, 03:51

It’s been over a month since the semifinals ended I know but both players seemed to agree they wanted to wait so I saw no reason to push them. They are playing now though and it should be good to watch:

Game 1
Game 2

My experience in the tournament so far is probably very different from Smith's! I have the worst record possible to be alive at this point (13-5). I've won every match on the tiebreak game, splitting the first two in every case. Along the way I eliminated seeds 3, 6, 7, and 22. This means I played three of the tiebreaks without my choice of country!

Each of my matches were super close, with the last two coming down to the thinnest of margins in the tiebreak game (17-17 and 18-16 IIRC. Apart from this tournament, I have never played a 2 -player game, so my rate of learning was just enough to keep up with the opponents thrown my way!

That's about it! I intend to fight Smith to the bitter end, win, lose or draw!

The games are heating up! Both are relatively even, although really dynamic. Definitely fun games to follow! :D

I think the worst possible record to be alive at this point is 10-8. 2-4 was enough to make the knockout rounds. 8 knockout wins necessary to make the final with max 4 losses giving a total of 10-8.

Ah, good point! I forgot that more than 1 loss doesn't torpedo you in the prelims. My bad!

Wow, Game 148947 is pretty amazing. No semblance of stalemate lines, just a flat out race to 18. It's a super intense game, with fireworks for the whole family!
Smith's probably going to take 149023. A much more typical game, with me as France just being too slow in general to set up the 17-17 line.

Definitely fun games to keep an eye on! :D

Looks like we'll split our first two, with Austria winning both. The one where I was France has definitely been fun, but I made a few too many wrong guesses at key times. In the one where I'm Austria, I'm not assured of the win, but I'd overall agree with condude that I was able to get going fast enough to put myself in pretty good position to win even if it's not quite locked yet. Game 3 (probably) will be fun :)

It's a rare day you see France in Rumania, Naples, Ionian and Greece and not just slaughtering Austria!
