Here is the thread for the World War I Historical game. Anyone in the Society that wants to run one, go ahead! And feel free to implement your own set of house rules.
Currently, myself and 6 others are playing this game and are refining the rule set.
Okay, here are the rules of the WWI Historical:
1. The game will start in 1901, and players must not move out of their own spaces that they control at the start of the game until Spring 1902. Players must not move any fleets adjacent to other power’s territories but they move their fleets into international waters. International waters include any water adjacent to an unclaimed territory.
—>You Can move anywhere that is your power’s color. You can move into any sea space that is adjacent to unclaimed neutral territories. You cannot move into a sea space that is adjacent to an enemie’s land territory. You can move into a land space that you control which is adjacent to another power’s land territory. You can, with permission, move a fleet into a sea space that is adjacent to an allie’s land territory.
2. All players must agree to end the game in 1906, and a draw will be accepted. However, the terms of the draw will be discussed after Fall in 1906 in a New group message. After the terms have been discussed and agreed upon, the draw will be proposed by a winning power and all other remaining powers must accept.
3. The pre-set alliances are, in 1901:
—The Triple Entente, consisting of the Russian Empire, The French Third Republic, and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland.
—The Triple Alliance, consisting of Imperial Germany, The Austro-Hungarian Empire, and the Kingdom of Italy.
—The Ottoman Empire and Imperial Germany start friendly as well.
These powers must create a group chat consisting of each countries in their respective alliances. From 1901 onward however, alliances may shift slightly, depending on goals. For example, in WWI, Italy jumped over to the Entente alliance, hoping to gain parts of Austria.
4. Roleplaying plays an important part in this game as well. Each player must follow some roleplaying as their countrie’s respective leader.
•Germany: Kaiser Wilhelm II, Emperor of Germany, King of Prussia
•Austria: Franz Joseph I, Emperor of Austria, King of Hungary
•Italy: King Vittorio(or Victor) Emanuele III
•France: President Emile Loubet
•England: King Edward VII
•Russia: Emperor Nikolai II, or Czar/Tsar Nicholas II
•Turkey: Sultan Abdul Hamid II
Mostly you just need to sign you messages,
—The Great Sultán Hamid II,
Leader of The Great Ottoman Empire, etc
Use your imagination! Throughout the game, use the Public Press to be OOC(out of character).
5. Goals
Each power will have at least two goals that earn them points at the end of the game. These goals will try to mirror real life goals of WWI powers.
Germany:
-Holding Warsaw at the end by 1906, to represent the German need of “buffer states”
-Holding Belgium by Fall 1906 to represent Germany’s wish to annex Belgium
-Holding Paris by Fall of 1902 to represent Germany’s wish to quickly take France in WWI
Austria-Hungary:
-Holding Serbia by 1902 to represent Austria’s wish to annex Serbia(plus all that archduke Ferdinand stuff)
-Holding Silesia by 1904 to represent part of Austria’s battle Plans in WWI
-Actually having its origional territories in 1906
Italy:
-Holding Tyrolia in 1906, to represent Italy’s wish to annex an Italian speaking part of Austria
-Holding Tunis in 1906, to represent Italy’s wish to expand into the Med
France:
-Limiting Germany’s Navy to 1 Fleet by 1906, to show France’s fear of a German Navy
-Having no German units in French territories from 1901—1904, to keep the war off French soil
England:
-Having at least 5 fleets in 1906 to represent England’s need for a powerful navy
-Holding Portugal or Spain by 1906 to represent the Imperialism of England
Russia:
-Holding Serbia to “liberate” and help the Serbians by 1906
-Holding Finland and Ukraine through to 1906
-Holding Norway by Fall 1906
-Holding Rumania by 1906
Turkey:
-Controling The Balkins to Retake their old empire:
——1 point for each Greece, Serbia, Rumania, Bulgaria and Albania by Fall of 1906.
6. Scoring System:
So, one point is awarded for each:
•Goal Met
•Territory Annexed
•Supply Center Controlled
•Unit Held at end of game(at the end some requirements of a draw may be that the losing side “destroy” half their armies, so we would take points away)
•If you are on the winning side, you also get a point.
There is no real Solo win, that is not really the goal of the game.
Any questions? Please post below. Did I miss anything? Let me know. game number is 143772 if anyone wants to look up the first game of the Historical Society. We are still perfecting the scoring system. Please feel free to add input.
