PDL 2021

Postby TTBen » 11 Feb 2021, 21:59

This year I tried to make the scoring spreadsheet all inclusive and include links to view the games. Here is that link:

PDL 2021 Spreadsheet

I had also created a post to serve as a place for commentary but it hasn't really taken off yet and I think some don't even realize it is there.

Most likely the commentary page hasn’t taken off because there are no completed games yet. Once they are completed I expect there will be some commentary.

Excellent work as always. And as far as I can see no quitters yet? A fantastic start and long may it continue.

I seem to remember from previous PDLs that we need to be careful what we say here as you can't discuss ongoing games much, but I think it is safe to write a quick line or two. Hopefully there will be a lot more in depth chat and some good AARs to follow.

Division 2 has some really interesting maps!

G1 - S05 as I write this. England out apart from a Swedish outpost. Austria and Turkey both look in trouble. Can France get fleets to the Med before it is too late?!
G2 - Man what a map. Italy doing his best to keep things multi coloured! This game seems to be a reverse of G1 with Germany, Russia and Italy in trouble
G3 - A bit more balanced here with France being the main power up against it as Italy attacks.

Division 1

G1 is me so I certainly won't say much. England the power here who is in trouble. Things look like they are about to kick off and with a turn processing in a few hours will new alliances be drawn?!
G2 has similarities to G1. England getting beaten up and a dangerous looking France. Italy in trouble. Things seem up in the air in the east with a fairly strong Russia (unlike G1)
G3 again has England up against it! Can England score points in D1?! Italy also in trouble.

I look forward to keeping an eye on the games and reading some AARs. The D1G1 AAR will certainly be very interesting as it has been a rollercoaster of a game.

Let's keep it going people and ensure PDL is a success this year

I was actually wondering about After Action Reports, as I am currently writing one about an ongoing league game. Where would be the acceptable place to post a more detailed AAR? (of course I will only post the report after the game has come to a full conclusion - as not to divulge state secrets).
Dipomacy is a beautiful game. Mostly. It has to be played beautifully.

There is an AAR sub page of the PDL forum page. The first year PDL had some good well read AARs that you can still see in there (plus sadly the bad ones with all the arguing!). We'll get them in there I reckon if TT is good with that (must get him with moderator powers for the PDL page!)

Good idea writing the AAR as you go along - too often I find when it comes to it I have forgotten a lot of little details. Look forward to reading yours

I published my After Action Report here: viewtopic.php?f=51&t=61653&p=1018499#p1018499

You can find my AAR alongside the German perspective on the game.

I just found this section, and realized I put both D2 game AARs in the wrong area. Sorry
