Ooof, Monday! I hope I draw a country in a different region than my SuperPastis. January was hell playing Germany in one tournament and Austria in another.

I have written up an AAR of D1 Mar G2 and posted it here: https://playdiplomacy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=820&t=61815.

I am curious to hear the thoughts both of the other players on the board as well as the observers in this thread.

Cheers,

Ravi

One of the D1 games is held up missing their final player, I have reached out to some potential subs but I might need more and will very likely need more for July and September games

I'm afraid I have to withdraw from the tournament. If anyone wants to take my place let me know. My second game is currently still in 1901. If no-one replies I'll simply resign and anyone can fill the void in the game, but I rather leave things properly with a replacement

A little late reporting but we have had 2 players drop out of their games in progress and the remainder of the league. They have temporary subs to finish out this game and their permanent sub will be named before the start of their next game. Dropping are:

Tortellacci (from Division 1)

PippiLangKous (from Division 2)

All of the May games have gotten interesting to watch now.

Sorry I wasn’t ready to jump back into a game yet, or I might be in one of them!

I set the schedule at the beginning of the year so the next round of games have invites sent out on 5 July, this always means players have until 12 July to join. As it works out I will be on vacation 5 July to 7 July and will be sending those invites out a day early on 4 July, players will still have until 12 July to join their game.

Since we have at least 2, maybe 3 dropouts from the league though I would like to get a confirmation from substitutes that they are ready to play so that I can send out the initial invites to them just likes regular player. I have reached out to some folks for confirmation but have yet to get responses from any.

Looks like the May D1 G2 game just ended in a 3-way with an exciting stab at the end. The players have discussed some of their thoughts in the public press.

Congrats to the drawmates Czar99, StarkAdder, and BigBert. Looking forward to an AAR if you plan to write one!

That was a “game of death,” looking at who didn’t make the draw!

It was a fairly boring endgame, though. The Austrian stab of Russia happened well in advance of the last year; the writing was on the wall for the E/F/A for a long time. In fact there was a comment in the public press that the only reason the game didn’t end earlier was because the drawing powers didn’t want to leave points on the board by not eliminating the other powers.

That’s not to say it was badly played by anyone—just that it turned out to be a straightforward endgame. It happens.
