For Chess Lovers

Postby Gavrilo Princip » 29 Jul 2017, 17:01

Hey, friends,

Yesterday I learned about this very interesting variant of chess that is being Kickstarted; I thought there might be some here who'd be into it as well. Normally I'd be pretty dismissive of *yet another* chess variant on Kickstarter, but this one I think actually has real merit and stirs up some really interesting mind-states. He's calling it Paco Šako, and I pledged to hopefully get a copy myself. Maybe some of you will think it's worth it as well. Here's the link:

Just found his regular website, and it looks like you can simply order the original black and white set straight away, no Kickstarting necessary. Looks like the main goal of the KS is to raise funds for the multi-colored sets.

Wow, I really like this concept and twist to the classic chess game.

I'll defiantly be purchasing it. Thanks for the share :)

Incredibly interesting idea. Chain reaction moves might add the whole new level to the chess game and might make it really competitive. I already imagine pro chess players, who can plan more than 10 moves ahead, employing tactics and strategies that will predict 10 moves that will lead to an ultimate chain reaction to embrace the opponent's king in final flashy move.
I also love the philosophy of piece behind it, especially in educational purposes for children. It's far better to teach your kids to "embrace and hug the adversary" rather "than kill the enemy", but as I said, I imagine it to become really competitive in high level play.
