I apologize to South Africa and Australia for the inartful statement. What I intended to say is that they only had a comparatively small presence in the America's. You say you "resemble that remark" . Is that an admission that you yourself are inartful.

Not it is you I must apolagize to for not remembering the source of the remark though I might argue that quoting Groucho as opposed to Karl is actually the highest of low art (and therefore still far from inartful).

It really would be more accurate to say that the coward fears a thousand deaths, while the hero he fears none (or perhaps one at the last moment).

One might note that Homer agrees with Ecclesiastes when he has Achilles say that "I would rather be above earth and work as a laborer to an-other, a man with no land of his own and little livelihood,than be king over all the lifeless dead."

The peasants of Egypt are getting tired. They saw their noble country...the LEADER of early civilization get squashed early...but these upstarts. Then, JUST as they were getting it turned around, their leader misses a CRUCIAL season to direct their troops. They don't care that 90% of the glacier is below water...they want a leader who wont abandon them. They don't care about experience. Poor departed Alman's memory is clearly damaged by his departure ordeal or perhaps from frostbite incurred during his campaigns in the far north of the Old and New Worlds. I did not sneak into his room. I went there at the request of several of his neighbors who were disturbed by his late night drinking, carousing and snoring.

I merely sang him an old German lullaby "Guten Abend, gute Nacht, mit Rosen bedacht, mit Näglein besteckt, schlupf′ unter die Deck!". Since I did not have roses and cloves at hand I did toss some bright throw rugs and several pillows on the bed to bedeck it as per the song. If one landed on or next to Alman's head and his inebriated condition prevented his moving so as to breath more easily...I really am quite sorry.
