The Na'athari are sad to hear of news of unrest in Tarach and would be willing to work with both parties to find a solution. It also condemns the rumoured role which the Chaos Guild have played in these events.

Tarachi Civil War Adjudication: Round One

News emerges of a Sethhaire force of 5000 Elves marching into the territory of the Morraine clan. They meet some sporadic resistance but the Morraine are spread too thinly to be able to offer much resistance. Their hunters are able to create a small number of casualties and some attrition is caused during the march through the forest of the Morraine but the Sethhaire force successfully besieges the main city of Morraine. The city has, at the time of writing, just been placed under siege and the results of the siege shall be adjudicated next time.

The Sethhaire force is now made up of 4850 men and the city of Morraine is now in a siege.

In other news, there are rumours of small-scale Orcish raids in the territory of the Delwar. These raids have only just started raiding storehouses, quarries, lumbermills, stables and anything else that is isolated and may assist in the creation of a military force in Delwar. 10 Orcs and 40 of the Delwar have been killed in skirmishes so far.

Tarachi Civil War Adjudication: Round Two
A force of 6960 Delwar soldiers were dispatched south by Furycane to deal with the Orcish raiders. However, when chasing Orcish troops back to their territory, they were ambushed and wiped out. Orcish casualties were minimal.

The Orcs lost 2000 men while the Delwar force was wiped out.

However, the Orcish raids were slowed down, although they were not halted by a series of checkpoints which were set up in Delwar territory. The level of attrition in Delwar territory has been reduced significantly as a result.

The Sethhaire siege of the Morraine continued for a long while as the Sethhaire seemed willing to wait it out. However, one day a force of 4000 Dwarrowmere and 2000 troops from the rest of the Morraine territory appeared which encircled the Sethhaire between them and the garrison of the city. 2000 Sethhaire soldiers managed to escape this ambush and retreat but the rest were eliminated. 1500 Dwarrowmere and 1000 Morraine were destroyed of the force who attacked the Sethhaire.

Wait, my whole army was destroyed by raiders? Almost 7000 soldiers, no survivors?

I'm also moderately curious about the "no survivors" stipulation. The "raiders" were decoys, traveling in small groups to conceal their true numbers, explicitly meant to lead the Delwar army into a trap. . . but Matron Galdris meant for that army to surrender once the trap was sprung. The Delwar would really rather fight to the death than surrender to Orcs? Racists. There were even Morchai representatives there available to negotiate a surrender in line with traditional Tarachi custom.

After consultation with mat I have increased the number of Orc casualties for the sake of balance.

The mounting violence in Tarach, combined with the lessening of worries on our own frontiers, have brought more attention to the situation in the Towers. Its geographical position on the opposite side of the Obsidian Sea naturally makes the Federation (or new Kingdom) an important trading partner. In that vein, a number of observers have been sent, to get a better grasp of the ongoing situation. We hope that these observers will be allowed access by both the highland and lowland clans - and a few are heading to Delwar to see the impact of this Orcish activity.

But they did all fight to the last elf? Nobody accepted the offered surrender?

I think sjg still has that in there, not personally aware of all the details that went into this one.

The End of the War:

'Cane and I have done some negotiating, with the following results:

Following her disastrous defeat in the forests of the Morraine and on the plains of Sethhaire, 'Cane officially cedes all claims to the territories of the Dwarrowmere, Morraine, and Mirromai clans. These clans are meeting now to decide if they will form a single new nation, and what form that nation will take, or if they will go completely separate, but allied ways.

The Morchai clan, officially neutral in the fight, has now seceded from the Federation, and its typically itinerant families and tribes will be officially unaligned, but able to continue operating in their traditional ways, migrating along the border between the Federation and the independent clans.

'Cane officially releases Archon Telleo from captivity, although all other political prisoners have apparently... vanished. The Archon has returned to his native Dwarrowmere home, and will be attending the meeting of the independent clans soon.

'Cane and Telleo both officially recognize the rights of the migrating orcs, controlled be Keirador, to settle in the territory between Urak, Tarach, and the sea. They also formally recognize the creation of an orcish nation in the mountains of the Na'athari kingdom, and the right of the orcs to hold the fortified lands in the south of the Delwar plains.

Furthermore, orc tribes are officially being welcomed into the Dwarrowmere clan, able to continue their tribal living in parallel to the Elvish tribes. In addition, a small portion of the western mountains have been entirely ceded by the Dwarrowmere, for any orcs who wish to take up new mountain homes, but do not wish to join the Tarachi.

It should be noted that the formal divide of the Federation will 1) cause existing trade deals with other nations to need to be renegotiated, and 2) necessitate the creation of new nation pages for 'Cane and myself. Mine will be posted soon, after the completion of the Clan gathering, 'Cane can post hers whenever. The current Tarachi Federation page is now defunct if any moderator would like to lock it.
