New thread added.
Game A game starts have been pushed back by a couple days, sorry!
Well, less overlap for Game B1 players, anyway.
I just couldn't resist sending out more invitations to the tournament.
I thought that there wouldn't be that many more that I wanted to invite... but there were lol, and it took a bit of time to do that...
Anyway, we're certainly looking at more than 63 players now, so I will have to update the rules a little bit to allow for more players.

Anyway, no pressure whatsoever to join, but I just thought that I'd send out some messages to avoid people later saying "Awww, I would have joined this tournament if only I'd heard about it :(".

Sign me up too, pls.
I was hesitating about the time commitment to play two games simultaneously but I don't think I can miss out on this tournament.

Please note that if you don't join your Game A with-in about 48 hours of my PMing you the password for it, or if you don't confirm, someone else may beat you to your spot in the tournament, likely placing you on top of the reserves list instead.
Around 5pm-7pm, Monday, New York time, might be a time that some of you will receive your Game A assignment and password.
Thank you for your patience as I try to find the time to sort 70 of you into games, among other tasks.

If you are numbered from 1 to 70 on the main roster, you should have just received a PM from me instructing you to join the Game A that you are assigned to.

I've been clear up to this point about asking tournament participants to let me know if they foresee potentially having to surrender in the future from one or more of their games.
I'd like to add:
 Please let me know if you foresee that another player in one of your tournament games might surrender in the future, perhaps because they haven't been communicating for days and because they have missed at least one turn. At the very least, please let me know immediately if a player surrenders or auto-surrenders. Whether a replacing player has a charged rating shield or not, I'd like them to be able to join ASAP so that the position can deteriorate as little as possible.

This would be very helpful to me--I'd like a heads up if possible, to be able to get another player ready to join the game or to join right away as a substitute.
It's wonderful for me to be able to have super_dipsy log as the inactive player and assign the substitute that I specify.
This way, the substitute doesn't have to risk a loss to their rating. Also, if the inactive player comes back with-in a reasonable amount of time, they can just rejoin their game (though I'd like them to contact me first to check-in and to get permission).

Just so this information isn't privy to one person:
sinnybee wrote:The precedent that has been set / what has become my stance, is that I interfere as little as possible.
What this means, is that I will not bother putting in a reserve unless one or more players tells me about the need for such and/or the position is decent.
What this also means, is that if someone takes up a surrendered position without my permission, I will allow it as long as they meet the reliability standards of this tournament.
Draw rules are no different for this tournament--I believe that if Country X auto_surrenders while a draw is in place, and that if everyone except Country X who hasn't been eliminated has accepted the draw, then the draw will go through at the time of the surrender, without Country X in the draw (whether or not they had been included in the draw). If Country X had been included in a 3-way draw, then I believe that it would automatically be switched into a 2-way draw.

Hi all,

I wasn't sure the best place to post this, I hope this will suffice. As I've now told Sinny, I'm currently travelling through Southeast Asia as I outlined when I signed up. I won't be back for a good 3 weeks, after which I'll be moving cities and starting a hectic new job.

I knew about all this before I signed up, however due to my newbie status Sinny and I didn't think I'd make it through to the second round... Anyway here we are and I'll have to bow out. Good luck to everyone, may the wiliest diplomat win.
