Star ambassador qualification

Postby beneficii » 01 Sep 2016, 02:23

It says 5 messages per turn to qualify for star ambassador. By "per turn", do they mean each season (Spring, Winter), or each phase?

The site does not provide any more detail on qualifications.

The purpose of the SA class is not to get people to spam to reach an artificial goal. It is to identify players that naturally communicate a lot. If that is you, you will become an SA. If it's not, don't sweat it. Don't try to game it either; just be yourself.

I was an ambassador for a long time, and thought that the SA designation was next to impossible to attain. After one (not particularly communicative) game, I was randomly awarded the title. It's a lot easier to get than you might think, even though I have no idea what the requirements are.

You were not randomly awarded it.

IIRC, you need to have played a minimum number of games (maybe ranked games). I think it got it on my tenth game.

It seems likely in your case that you had a high enough average that even a low communication game did not drop you below the threshold as you achieved the minimum game requirement.

The requirement for our secret society is that you utter the password. And no, we can't tell you what it is.

It need only appear one time in one of your messages, and you're in.

Then you are awarded the badge, the pith helmet, the embossed riding crop, the pantaloons, the monocle, and the (obviously) sizable sum of money, in a locked briefcase.

The above-mentioned items are customarily left at the usual drop spot at the usual time.

You know where and when this is, or you wouldn't be reading this message.

P.S. Remember our motto, and live by it.

But seriously, I think maybe there's a ratio at play. You have to talk more than you win :)

Randomly was the wrong word. I think surprisingly would fit better there. I actually realized it might read differently than I'd intended right after I clicked submit.

I was just wanting to get an idea of how I was doing. I don't write for the purpose of increasing the count, but I have kept in mind the number I send. I find that I will often send more than 10 in the first game year then it kinda drops off, but I do try to keep up communication with every player at least once a game year, since I read that would make them more likely to help you if you run into problems later (whereas if you hadn't written them in a long time all of a sudden asking for a favor, they'll be much less willing). Of course, in more decisive situations, I send more, largely as part of back-and-forth conversation.

I just wanted to know if I was heading toward the star status or not.

This is a situation in which I posted a somewhat idiotic, misguided, or erroneous post, which I somewhat regretted, and wanted to delete, but had found that someone had posted after my post, which made my post impossible to delete. SO-

I've edited out the text of the somewhat idiotic, misguided, or erroneous post, and replaced it with a perfectly inoffensive joke.

Now bbbumpy is a great example of a spam ambassador.

Oops, the quiet part came out loud.

@beneficii, just keep playing how you play. I think it takes 10 games for SA to kick in.

If you are staying in touch with everyone and keeping in close contact with Allies with messages back and forth, you are very likely to cross the threshold. Many players barely talk to their friends and don't talk at all to their current enemies. This can seriously reduce your options as the game goes on and it gives you a very incomplete view of the game. The more information you have, the better you can play, so talk a lot. Those that do will tend to get the star.

....and the pantaloons. Love the pantaloons.
