Ambassador Games

Postby byplain » 11 Feb 2016, 22:24

I would like to start an Ambassador game. Where on this site can I find a list of players who are ambassadors so I can screen the players who want to join the game I am starting. Any information would be helpful
Kindest Regards,

If you simply make a game that is ambassadors only, only ambassadors can join so there is no need to screen anyone

What is your motivation in specifying Ambassadors? If it is to reduce the chances of despoliation by surrenders then you are likely to be disappointed in my experience. Unfortunately the Ambassador status is little more than a joke IMHO.

You would be better off joining the Classicists.

This is incorrect.

Looking at games on site, Ambassador games are far more reliable in terms of surrenders/NMRs as games open to all. If you think about it, this is almost bound to be the case because as soon as an Ambassador surrenders or NMRs too many times, they are returned to Diplomat status. Then they have to get through 3 started and finished games that start after returning to Diplomat status before becoming Ambassadors again. This limits the impact of 'careless' Ambassadors on the pool of Ambassador games which is why they are so much more reliable than open ones.

The Classicists is indeed a good club for those who detest surrenders and NMRs, working on the same principle that Classicists who are 'careless' get booted out just as Ambassadors do.

EDIT
Just for information, looking at Surrenders only, more than 4 in 5 open games are affected by surrenders. for Ambassador games the figure is 1 in 3. I absolutely agree that is not perfect, but in the end people always have the choice to NMR / surrender; even Classicist games are not perfect. But if my maths works properly then if you play 15 open games you will average 3 with no surrenders, whereas if you play 15 Ambassador games you will average 10 with no surrenders which is considerably better odds.
