Question on ambassador status

Postby Mr_Blobby » 13 Dec 2014, 01:27

Hi,

Can someone please tell me whether games that you have joined half way through count towards ambassador status? Also, how can the system tell if you have communicated enough during the game?

Thanks, Stephen.

CllrStephen,

You must complete three games from START to Finish without surrendering to earn Ambassador status. Games you pick up in-progress do not count toward it. Also, short-handed games also do not count for it.

Star Ambassador status requires 10 finished games. The system then checks to see if you average 5 messages a turn.

Here is the link where it is explained. viewtopic.php?f=657&t=43283

Hope this helps.

One quick question since I couldn't figure it out from reading the link, what constitutes a turn, for star ambassador status? Orders phases, years, all phases? I almost never send more than 1-2 messages per build/retreat phase but am often around 5ish during the orders phase.

Your question has been asked before and the answer has come back purposely vague. The reason being, the goal is not to get people to "game the system" to get Star status, rather it is only intended as a rough and ready indicator of high communication players.

So play your game the way you want and if you get a star, that means you are among the top 10% (or so) of communicators.

Just one further question.

Do games that you join mid way through count as your 10 completed games?

Stephen.

Yes and no.

As documented, the 10 game-starts bookends the look-back period for Ambassador status, but replacement positions that fall within those 10 games are included in the calculation.

(FYI - I know from bug reports that the code for identifying a game-start is a little wonky, so Dipsy may have ditched that and just be looking at the 10 most recent finished games or may have added a number of turns requirement or it may all be sorted now. Only Dipsy can comment on what the code is actually doing, my comment is based on what is documented in the forum.)
