You aren’t my mom, Beadman. And, Zander, I’ve the right to fight him if he repossesses what I regard as rightfully mine.

The kingdom of Deseret is currently an absolute feudal monarchy where the people serve the king chosen by god. All property of the kingdom is directly owned by the king and is distributed and revoked to dukes and counts at whim. The kingdom of Deseret has been isolationist for hundreds of years, xenophobic to outside influence and prone to self-sufficiency. The kingdom for the longest time has been a religious ethnostate ruled by the Taylors with the average citizen living the life of a serf sworn both politically and religiously to the king. The kingdom does not have freedom of the press and freedom of speech, with all lines of outside communication banned except state sponsored media. Any knowledge of extraterrestrial life and spaceflight were not known, and believed to be heretical in nature. Times are changing for the kingdom however. In the year 4863 a space shuttle from the planet of Venus crashed on the outskirts of Salt Lake City. The ship was that of the Shah empire escaping the current communist regime. Out of the ship stepped 99 Venusians, the emperor’s grand-niece Catherine Shah and a previously unknown man who claims to be emperor. The kingdom’s first contract with extraterrestrial and civilized life. The brother of king Bryan, prince Marcus saw the ship and its genetically modified crew as demons and ordered the militia to slaughter them all. The prince and heir to the throne prince Jack stopped the order however after seeing the Venusian Pirate Queen for the first time, and falling in love. After a few weeks the prince asked his father the king, for permission to marry her. The king loving his son accepted and began a new area in the kingdom. Opening its gates for the first time to outsiders and outside influence. All is not well however, for Prince Marcus and a good chunk of the militia see this act as an abomination against everything the kingdom stands for. The Venusian Pirate Queen has already made her presence at court known, teaching the court about the outside world and of the benefits of new ideas. Citizens and the nobility are choosing sides, with the stability falling every day. Do the people follow the old way of the church and of isolation, or of the new way, only time will tell.
King Bryan accepts the offer of the Phoenix Corporate Group, and accepts Master Teller with open arms. The King also accepts the NVC and the offer to join the League of Cairo, sending Prince Tyler, second to the throne of Deseret as it representative. While all this is going on however Prince Marcus and his followers are openly resistant and hostile to the new influence and new people in the kingdom. Riots outside the palace increase every day and attacks on foreigners in the kingdom are not uncommon.

By the way, Ceona is definitely interested in an embassy exchange and cooperation in the future.

The kingdom of Deseret is open to the opening of an embassy with Cyon, Bryan Taylor is especially interested in hearing about these “space Mormons” and newzion. Prince Marcus however is skeptical that they've kept faithful to the doctrine all these years.

Project “King Bryans legacy” has is underway. The modernization of the Kingdom of Deseret’s military and technological advancement, with the help of ideas of the 99 Venusians, Catherine Shah, the court guests, and the kingdoms brightest. (Creates knowledge already general knowledge to the rest of CYOC) The kingdom created the first Antimatter Engines, Warp Engines, and improved its existing shielding and missile technology. The process of modernization however, has been slowed down by the “Provo incident” where the storage facility of this new research located south of Salt Lake City was stormed by thousands of fundamentalist followers of “the old way” destroying the kingdoms first space shuttle in hundreds of years and butchering 20 of the kingdoms best scientists. Prince Marcus Taylor has now officially commend and taken responsibility for this incident, claiming it was for the good of the nation, stating “for hundreds of years the kingdom has been secure and safe keeping to itself. But with this alien temptress and her foreign ways the nation is being teared apart. The new technology will only ruin this great kingdom and destroy what our ancestors have created.” King Bryan Taylor as a result attempted to imprison his brother, but Prince Marcus fled the court with his wife Georgina White and toddler son Prince Carlos. On his way out the prince stabbed his brother, leaving the king hospitalized and Prince Jack left as regent. The followers of the old way and the prince have taken residence in the border city of Grand Junction. Prince Marcus has even stated that King Bryan and Prince Marcus have lost their god given right to rule, claiming that demons have taken over them and the court, sending off its children to foreign courts to be corrupted. Prince Marcus has declared himself the rightful king and has begin to amass members of the militia and the faithful to invade.

The Deseret Civil War has begun.

"Niece, this day will be written down in the history books as the start of the Shah dynasty's path towards the reclamation of the Venusian Empire," Dmitri tells Catherine Shah, as they stand in the back a truly awful armored personnel carrier. It's really more of a civilian truck that the Emperor Dmitri's goons have managed to weld some extra metal to and tape a gun to the back of. However, the spikes poking out of the front like the tusks of a diseased warthog do lend a nice air of intimidation, and the bed of the ex-truck offers enough room for the so-called Emperor, his so-called niece, and their so-called dog, who as all Venusian imports, is rather more deadly than it's terran counterparts. A few soldiers with non-uniform uniforms cobbled together from scraps of Imperial attire, Desereti military surplus, and civilian clothing, round out the crew.

The APC is in the head of a small, generally not mechanized company of Venusians. The unit has relatively few of the up-armored trucks like the Emperor's vehicle, and has far more purely civilian trucks, which are generally used to tow artillery pieces and ammunition built by the company - worshippers of the Atomic Gods, one and all. The Holy Trefoil warns unbelievers of the might of the Gods and those who do Their will. The artillery, also built by the Venusians, is not especially accurate, but it doesn't need to be with the ammunition they plan to use. The force is small, and the Emperor is hesitant to commit them to combat. Once these followers die, prospects for replacing them are slim, due to the control the Federation holds over the Homeworld and Outer Reaches, and the lack of appeal of the Venusian Empire outside members of the core ethnic group. However, he thinks it is important to show Venusian might to his new allies and win a secure victory on behalf of the king to begin to build up favors.

The Emperor sends out an emissary to order the rebels to lay down their arms and obey their lawful king, but the heathens launch into a xenophobic mob at the sight of the Venusian and the white flag is no protection. His immense strength and powerful gene-mods prove more useful, and the Venusian diplomat manages to kill many rebels before being subdued by fire from the rebels archaic weaponry. Any hope for peace is dispelled with the spilt blood of the diplomat, and Dmitri is determined to end the rebellion and kill those responsible this very day. He gives a quick warning to the civilians of the town to evacuate, but when it is clear that they do not fear the Emperor and the Gods at his disposal, Dmitri gives the order to open fire.

Five guns rock back on their carriages, launching their weaponry in the vague direction of Grand Junction, and immediately pick up and scooch away to reduce the effectiveness of counterbattery fire from the rebels. A small combat patrol of Venusians is flying overhead, watching for enemy aircraft with genetically-enhanced eyes, but none appear to be in the air. They can, however, see the plumes of five mushroom clouds rising over the city.

The Desseret militia look in horror and disbelief at what has just transpired. At the helm, Prince Jack, his uncle Prince Robert, and the PCG ward/representative Maximus Soh look on as the mushroom clouds engulf what use to be the city of Grand Junction. The civil war, in one move had just ended, but at what cost. Millions of old way followers, the prince Marcus, his wife, and his five-year-old son, all turned to ashes. Prince Roberts throws up onto the ground in front of him, as Jack looks at his wife and her father with horror in his eyes. The days following the event the militia and the princes return home, changed by the events they just witnessed. For hundreds of years the great shields of Salt Lake protected them from such attacks, to the point where they forgot the horrors of nuclear war, but this wasn’t Salt Lake, and all those men, women, and children were gone. While the new way of modernization had prevailed, the prince and the newly recovered king took a new approach to the modernization effort. While the new tech would be developed, the main focus of the kingdom was on defense. Preparing to shield the whole nation from ever being attacked like that again. Diplomatic treaty’s with Ceona and PCG were officially established, along with the empire of Venus, but something changed in Jack that day. He grew solemn and quiet, not being as adventures and rash as he uses to be. He often spent his nights alone in his study, leaving his wife with a cold bed. He wouldn’t eat for days at a time and only came to council meetings when it required him. The king and his remain brother Robert meanwhile went fully into the work of King Bryans legacy, modernizing the nation to be on pare with the rest of the world.

In spite of our friendly relationship with the Empire-in-Exile of Venus, Ceona is forced to denounce the overly violent and wholly indiscriminate path taken by the Imperial forces. While the Glorious Eternal Empire will accept that harsh methods must often be employed in the name of order, an indiscriminate nuclear strike on the city of Grand Junction was wholly excessive, unnecessary, and lacked any finesse.

The Ceonian troops deployed to the region were more than enough to effectively supplement the local forces, and a far more personal and effective display of authority could have been made with targeted raids, military law, and selective public executions of dissidents by firing squad. Not only would this method have protected the local infrastructure, it would have connected with the populace on a far more personal level. Wanton destruction rarely accomplishes anything.

More than upset with our Venusian allies, we are sorely disappointed. They should know better. Truly, much of their greatness has faded over the centuries.

To Deseret, we mourn the loss of the few faithful loyalists in that city. They did not deserve this fate. They will be remembered for generations. For those who would think to rebel against the established order, remember that defeat, fire, and destruction are the only fates that await the unfaithful and untrue.
