(CYOC) Index of Off-World Colonies

Postby Terminus » 03 Jun 2014, 01:56

This post is an index of all the off-world colonies - including star systems - that countries have annexed. The thread can be used for any updates or whatever that people want to post.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1OtLSiKQH6iei6-fqE6L-m80x4NMfX2UF6BxmBQejVeU/edit?usp=sharing
Above Google Doc has a list of all claimed systems in CYOC, along with a list of the 55 closest stars to Sol. This is the more up-to date version.

Here is a simulator that I use to help me find good nearby star systems. It'll tell you the name of the solar system, and you can google it for more info. OR... use the catalog at solstation.com.

Outdated dice system
There's also a handy dice roll system that we've cooked up:

Roll 1 wrote:Roll a d6 for each planet
1-3 determines an uninhabitable planet
4 determines a mars like planet
5 determines a earth like planet
6 determines a planet with life

Roll 2 wrote:Roll a d6 for each planet (if you rolled a 1-3 on Roll 2)
1,3,5 determines a planet which is too hot
2,4,6 determines a planet which is too cold

Roll 3 wrote:Roll a d6 for each planet (if you rolled a 1-3 on Roll 2)
1,3,5 determines a gas giant
2,4,6 determines a terrestrial planet

Roll 4 wrote:Roll a d6 (if you rolled a 6 on Roll 2)
1-4 - low level organism life (bacteria, small animals, etc)
5 - Sentient civilization (technology and evolutionary level from Stone Age to Communication Age)
6 - Sentient space-faring civilization (control over their own solar system, or even 1-2 other solar systems)

Roll 5 wrote:Roll a d6 (if you got a 5 or a 6 on Roll 3b)
1-3 - "Balkan" civilization (civilization is composed of multiple nations vying for dominance, much like our own human civilization)
4-6 - "Unified" civilization (where the civilization is a single empire, republic, etc. that merely has satellite countries)

Here is a website where you can perform your dice rolls.
Portal to other people's personal threads:
Republic Offworld Colonies
URMA Off-World Colonies
Pallas Off World Colonies and Etc.
Mattopian Outworld Dominions
Mobius Space Outposts
New Hope Extrasolar Governments

Next to the location is/are the country/countries in question that have settled there. Note: Star systems in particular are given multiple names from various IRL indexes. Please be sure to check with the system you are colonizing to figure out if it's already on the list.

Colonized Star Systems

Above Google Doc has a list of all claimed systems in CYOC, along with a list of the 55 closest stars to Sol. This is the more up-to date version.

Off-World Colonies are organized into two main attributes: Unified, Balkan, and Militarized/HFPE. Unified star systems mean that the system is primarily colonized by a single Sol-based national entity, whereas Balkan systems have more than one power invested there. Militarized/HFPE colonies are "secret" colonized systems typically only visited by high ranking officials, etc. If there are more than one power invested there, the military/HFPE colony is designated Balkan. Due to the complexity of the Solar system, it also has its own section outlining more detailed colonies. These definitions may change if the Index discovers entirely outer-Sol powers with relatively greater than or equal technological, political, and/or demographical power of Sol-based powers.

Should we add system descriptions?

Also, add ε Cygni, θ Cygni, and 16 Cygni to my list. That'll make 10 systems, if all three are to my liking.

It wouldn't hurt. I was planning on putting descriptions in after I'm done compiling the list. If I'm given descriptions: Even better!
