Project Hadrian

Image

Construction Status: 100%

Hull Integrity: 100%

Energy Status: Charged

Energy Stores: 100%

Population: 10 Million

Project Hadrian begins its ascension into the skies around Earth! The Crescent Station snakes it's way across the planet. Clearly visible at night, the massive fortified superstructure will be kept in geosynchronous orbit, will have a population of about half a billion, and will be tethered to the earth by no more than five space elevators.

The greatest strength of Hadrian will be its ability to draw a Plasma Shield over the entirety of Earth, protecting the planet against orbital attack. Never again will an assault come from the stars, at least as long as Mobius still stands.

The pinnacle of Mobius technology, project Hadrian is a combination of the scientific know-how and raw industry of all six nations. We are using everything from living metal and fusion to asteroid mining and plasma tech.

The project, now complete, stand guard over Earth: bristling with weaponry, a garrison, and a plethora of information tech and scanners.

Hmmm... :|

Project Hadrian seems to be a very solid idea. URMA may not be able to offer much to assist Mobius, but if we can, we're right here.

EDIT: Actually, you know that big lift-off island in the Arctic Circle? It's got powerful MagBeams that can synchronize an object with the planet's magnetosphere. Go ahead and use it.
Also, I have lots of construction spaceships to lease.
Hmmm... :|

Would you like help with the shield? We did a planetary shield on EMKII(albeit on a much smaller scale, and in a completely different way), we may be able to assist.
Additionally, we don't really need the energy from our Dyson satellites anymore if you need some.

We do worry, however, that this could be activated at inappropriate times, cutting off trade between Mars and Earth, as well as between other areas in the solar system.

Mobius requires no help at this time.

Later on we might purchase some assistance, but for now completion is a matter of national pride.

Before we rush to adopt Project Hadrian we should stop to consider the consequences of blithely giving this technology such a central position in our lives.

:P

Seriously, pretty sweet. Is this to stop all orbital bombardment, or... ?

I'm in favor as long as this is an international project. I don't want one nation secretly making a giant weapons system in Project Hadrian that could, you know, destroy us all.

I note that if this is destroyed, all of earth is bathed in plasma.

The hope is that this would be between Earth and the shield, and no earth-based power with the strength to destroy it would be stupid enough to destroy it.
