Not a lot of tanks around in 1901 - and a reasonable level of authenticity is surely desirable!

I think there should be a wide range of units so everyone can have what they think looks best, regardless of authenticity (one of the unit choices at the moment is tanks/subs remember)
Here are the ones i've made so far;

Clearly we need two more suitable fleet units, any ideas? :)

new colours too, i've changed italy to be less bright, germany to be lighter (less orangey so it doesn't clash with england) and changed turkey completely.

Wow! Turkey that colour?!

But certainly there should be no room for confusion (any colour blind players around at present to check that out?)

Getting there, definitely

I like the old original Avalon Hill colours...

Dark blue England
Black Germany
Red Austria
Green Italy
White Russia
Yellow Turkey
Light blue France

but I know that they aren't good for a computer map...sigh...

Giant sharks for fleets.
T. rex for armies.

I'm serious! If you're already ditching historical veracity, you'd pick Vikings over Cretaceous carnage? Really? C'mon, guys, monstrous theropods trounce Vikings any day of the week. Just imagine what a convoy would be like: a tyrannosaur surfing on the back of a megalodon and landing smack in the middle of early 20th century Rome. That's the most awesome thing ever! I don't understand why more of you aren't behind this...
