Playest: Diplomanerds (Round 2 LIVE!)

For the last 2 years, Kimbyrle and I have run an annual quiz game called "Camp Nerdliest" The game is sort of a panel show like QI, or word play game like "Sez You", "Inconceivable" or "Ask Me Another"

As we prepare for the third installation, we'd like to playtest some of our questions with you to see what you think of them. Over the next few days, we'll post our sample rounds, and see how well you do at solving them (and perhaps taking that feedback and finetuning our question set)

Game Map
Round 1: Welcome to CAMP [Fully solved]
Round 2: A series by any other name[New!]

To start with, this is our draft of Round 1.

Round 1: Welcome to CAMP.

In this round, all answers will contain the letters CAMP in order (but not necessarily at the beginning of the word). For instance, “Someone in a horror movie who is way too excited about chopping off other people’s limbs” would be a maniC AMPutator.

1. An interrelated set of roleplaying adventures, or Obama 2012:

2. The grounds or buildings of a school, hospital, or other institution:

3. Originally a type of prawn, nowadays anything with garlic, lemon, and parsley:

4. To run away haphazardly, almost like a mouse:

5. The elongated ridges of the floor of each lateral ventricle of the brain, thought to be the center of emotion, memory, and the autonomic nervous system:

6. A cone shaped pasta with a ruffled edge, or a bell like flower:

7. It makes the impact of the astrological star signs much more intense.

8. Broadcasting yourself from your laptop in character? Better get into this:

Here are my attempts:

1 - CAMPaign.
2 - CAMPus.
3 - SCAMPi.
4 - SCAMPer (off).
5 - I want to say amygdala so bad for this one, but this doesn't fit the hint. I'll have to pass this one (even though I studied Neuroscience in the past - shame!).
6 - CAMPanelle.
7 - CosmiC AMPlification.
8 - WebCAM Position (perhaps WebCAM Props or WebCAM Persona too).

[In case you'd like me to hide my answers from public view, let me know and I shall edit this post.]

Feedback:

The one-word quizzes are quite straight to the point, and could be considered easy. They are way closer to what's expected from a typical quiz question: it might be said that they test knowledge over creativity.

On the other hand, the multi-word questions are rather interesting, and require much creativity. However, I'd daresay that multiple answers should be allowed for those questions - provided, of course, they match the description. Question #8, for example, could use three different answers in my view that would be equally correct.

What I missed here is a question that has a precise multi-word answer: for instance, "the name of the sound gun used by Lúcio in Overwatch" (SoniC AMPlifier). Such a question would act like the category #1 type of question as stated in my analysis, but contain a deeper level of complexity.

I would accept all of these answers. And given that we will be playing with teams who can solve, that may affect things. Also, that Lucio clue Is great

For 7 I had a different solution, but I would accept yours for full credit.

For 8 we were looking for webcam persona, but I would have given full credit for position as well as it fits the clue just as perfectly.

I'll post the next one since that went so smoothly!

Round 2: A series by any other name
In this round, we have reworded the title of famous series (at least a trilogy or more). If the first element in the series had no title or subtitle, we will begin with the second. For instance, if we said “The Rock of the Thinker”, “The Room of Confidences”, and “The Jailed Dude from the Lonely Place”, you might recognize The Philosopher’s Stone, the Chamber of secrets, and the Prisoner of Azkaban

1)
The Circle Friends
Dual Buildings
Monarchy Restored

2)
Celebrity Voyage: The Movie
The Anger of the Asian Ruler
Looking for the Best Selling Pediatrician of 1940-1960
The Trip Back to Where We Came From
The Last Edge
The Not found Nation

3)
The line Between Day and Night
The Date When the Court Renders its Decision
Awakening of the Automotons
Rescue
The First Book of the Bible if it branded in Silicon Valley

4)
The Rectangular Array
The Rectangular Array’s Second Bullet
The Rectangular Array’s Bloody Coup

5)
Expire Forcefully
Expire Forcefully Again
Expire Forcefully for Revenge
Remain Independently Upon the Mortal Coil, or Expire Forcefully
No Time Like Right Now to Expire Forcefully

6)
A Dude's Self Concept
A Dude is Better Than The Rest of You
A Dude Demands Capitulation
A Dude's Property Bequeathed in His Will
A Dude's Full Name

7)

It seems people are stuggling a bit with this one, so let me give the answer to #1 as an example:
1)
The Circle Friends
Dual Buildings
Monarchy Restored

The Circle Friends = The Fellowship of the Ring
Dual Buildings = The Two Towers
Monarchy Restored = The Return of the King

So the series is "the Lord of the Rings"
