My apologies if this has already been covered:

7. The "impregnable enclaves" Any power which, after any Fall season, is reduced to controlling only groups of Supply Centres in impregnable enclaves will lose those supply centres and be eliminated from the game. {Alternative rule, under discussion: Any power which controls no SC outside the impregnable enclaves may not vote on any draw proposal nor share in any draw other than DIAS.

The impregnable enclaves are Northern Wilderness and West Rang Shada; Valley of Arryn and Northern Valley of Arryn; Fal Dara and Fal Moran; and the central area of battle Island itself including the three connecting centres.

I beg to differ with the last bit,
the central area of battle Island itself including the three connecting centres.

If a player actually just holds MacKenzie Mts, St. Elias Mts, and Talkeetna Mts, this is NOT an "impregnable" position - enemies can apply 6 units against those 3.

If, on the other hand, such a player ALSO owns Wh Mtns, Romanzov Mts, and Bonanza Mts (with 1 support behind each), this is indeed impregnable. However, it is SIX centers, held in the center of the board, where, presumably, all 5 other powers made an effort to vie for control. A major achievement.

Surely THAT position is worthy of a vote and a position in a draw?

Controlling that area is, after all, quite literally "the name of the game!"

This topic has got far too long for me to keep going back and forth to find the latest discussions on specific rules, but I believe what you've quoted are the latest rules, and I would agree with you, the 3 in the middle are not impregnable, though hard to take.

You would in fact only need 4 units to break into it. 2 to break supports, and 2 to attack a single SC. 6 units would allow you to take all 3 yes.

But also, like you said, there is an impregnable enclave there, but it requires 6 centers, and in a position where multiple people should of fought for control, making it a worthy achievement, like you said!

So yeah, I think the central area of battle island should be removed from the impregnable enclaves list :)

True; I accept that argument and I'll amend the rules now. I don't think it should affect the bidding for the game B auction, which is already under way.

Incidentally, I moved this to Active. Both games will be listed in a single "Battle Isle" sub-Forum, and theyshould be linked from the main title (at the moment they aren't, but I'm working on it!) I' also copying the Rules and House Rules to a separate topic.

In all seriousness - isnt D'hara supposed to be to the east of the midlands?

And actually - I remember one of the first fantasy series I read was by melanie Rawn (Dragon Prince) - I always thought that would make an interesting Dip map, with sunrunners having some kind of spy power...

There are no "Mountains of the Dragon" in A Song of Ice and Fire. Clearly this breaks the game itself.
