I would also like to see a ranking, but I think it would have to be a separate ranking than the all games rank or it could get terribly abused.

Sooo, who's up for a France vs Austria tournament?

Only 5 games created so far, people seem not to have caught on super-quickly. How much time do we have to create games before this format becomes unavailable?

Anyone know any other interesting combinations? Germany v. Austria sounds interesting - pretty balanced, and lots of interaction due to their proximity. Russia seems like an interesting option, but vs/ who? Italy? England? Is Russia inherently imbalanced due to their ability to build fleets in both the north and the south? France can do the same, but F/R are so far away from each other it doesn't sound like it'd produce a very interesting game.

Sounds interesting.

If people willing to help host is the only thing holding it back I’d be happy to step in and assist as long as a more experienced host is available as backup... I have run events for other games just not diplomacy yet.

I could always pitch in on designing the actual matchups list, but it can be fairly time-consuming to monitor evrything, see results, make sure players are in correct powers, etc etc etc. I tried doing all that in gunboat tournament last year and it was EXHAUSTING, probably why I burned out before the end of it.

Seems at least on the surface that the players in the right position issue would be far easier in 2 player challenge than in a traditional 7 player game at least.

I think I may have misled a bit in the announcement :)

The idea was to make this available by the Christmas hols, but it is not going away. Unless people want it removed, it will stay as a variant on site for good.

Actually, I can see 16, so interest is picking up!

Amazing, I thought it was like the April Fools Shift games. It's a great addition to the non-premium variants, I prefer it to 2-player shorthanded.
