While this task may be have been child's play for this broad-base of tech-savvy players, I struggled with uploading an avatar picture until yesterday. What can I say? I'm a low-tech professor who still reads books...real paper bound ones
.As you know, file size is limited and the image I wanted to use was 4x too large to upload. Wanted to share my solution, in case others face the same challenge. You can use a compress image website to reduce the file size down to under the threshold (90x90 pixels, 24 KiB). I used this one, but there were many others that I'm sure would have worked:
