Accessing a friend's account

Postby Bromley86 » 13 May 2017, 10:38

Just wondering. If a friend wasn't currently playing a game, but was willing to share his pw with me so I could read the press in an old game of his, is that allowed? I think so, but I'd rather not come a cropper on something like this :) . Obviously, he'll change the pw after we've finished.

I believe that it isn't allowed. I might be wrong...

If you are just reading the messages...its fine. But you can't enter orders for him...or do anything in a current game. And yes, have him change the password when you are done

"I think so, but I'd rather not come a cropper on something like this".

Please teach me this interesting new [and possibly useful] phrase. Is it NZ?

UK; I'm not sure that they'd get it in NZ. To come a cropper- It's one of those expressions you use without defining. "To fail badly", with an element of physical injury, is what it's always meant to me. Indeed, now I look it up, that seems about right, albeit with the physical injury part being more central: apparently it means to fall badly. The etymology appears to be a version of "head over heals". This explains it all nicely, and includes a video to underscore the point :) .

Apparently there are over 1,000 messages. And I thought I couldn't shut up!
