Setting up PM rules

Postby Jegpeg » 31 Mar 2015, 19:08

I am trying to set up a rule such that any PM I receive with the word Octvarine in the subject goes into my Octvarine Folder.

Assuming * would be wildcards I set up a rule selecting "subject" "is like" "*Octvarine*" "Place into FOlder" "Octvarine". The rule appears as

If Subject is like *Octvarine* | Place into folder: Octvarine

However all such messages are still appearing in my inbox.

What have I done wrong?

It should be right.

Check to make sure the messages coming in have Octvarine spelled correctly. You may need to create another rule to catch those.

They are, even the capitalisation is the same (not sure if the rule is case sensitive). I will repost in Bugs, though I probably have still done something stupid.

Before you do, make sure you didn't accidently put move to forum "inbox"

I don't know why that's an option, let alone the default option, but it's caught me off guard a couple of times.

Think I have found it. * is not a wild card. Where is says "is like" it really means "contains". Therefore I need to get rid of the *s. I've done that so now just wait for the next message.

I wouldn't use "is like" - too vague. I think you might find the method I suggest here will work.
