AHW Rules Discussion - Modifers to Merchant fleets?

Last game, AC (bless his heart, he had to deal with so much craps from me), suggested the possibility of changing the amount of gold you get from Merchant fleets if you trade in other non Med area. This would promote historical accuracy.

However, at the time, I rejected it due the fact it gives non Med people disadvantages and adds complexity. Now, looking at it again, I feel it is worth looking at again.

However, I want player input, and I know perfectly well we argue like cats and dogs here, so begin discussing. The modifiers I plan to use are below

Black Sea -10
Indian Ocean/Red Sea -20
Atlantic Ocean: -20
North Sea: -30

Black Sea doesn't matter. You're right next to Med, and can just go there. Other than that, seems right. The Med is just awesome.

I initially put it down as the s modifier due to extra time it takes to sail to the Med, resulting in less sales to be made.

I figure that it doesn't take any more time for Pontus to sail to Egypt than it does for Egypt to sail to Massalia. I figure they're all close.

Sure the Gauls that sacked Rome knew it existed. They would have known there was a bunch of rich crap down south, at least.

well if we are going by anything Fortress when was the sack of Rome? oh yeah, well after Rome was an Empire that owned all of Gaul and southern Britannia...oh wait Battle of Allia, nevermind we know it exists xD.

And they called my tribe part of Belgae, which in translation meant Very Angry People. so there :p
