I think it's interesting that you soloed as Austria while allying with Turkey and Turkey being your most preferred ally. I managed to pull that off once but many people seem to think it's foolish for Austria to ally with Turkey. This video shows that it can work.

I think in an A/T it's really important that Austria take Rumania while Turkey gets Greece. Giving Greece makes them oriented on fleets whereas giving Turkey Rum orient's them towards armies and a Turkish army in Rum is a serious threat.

I also think Turkey one dotting you by putting a fleet in Rumania was a rather pathetic stab.

Currently at time 3:08 with mouth agape at Germany losing Berlin to Russia and Munich to France in the first year. I don't think you play any normal games, Floridaman.

I agree on all of the above. I think part of why Austria-Russia alliances tend not to work, a lot of the time (in my experience, of course) is because they both feel they need Rumania to defend a home supply center that's right next to it. Turkey can afford to be a lot more flexible about which centers they get, and a reasonable Turk will be, because they know they're in a super-strong defensive position, while their ally is in a more fragile one (until Austria gets really pumped up with armies).

It's funny that he tried that, yes. I thought his stabs during this game in general were a little funny. I usually try to be on my guard, so as to be difficult to stab, in any case, but here, I don't know how much of the credit goes to my defensive thinking, and how much to Turkey not really thinking things through.

That was pretty weird... and in fairness to the other players, it's hard to play as you normally might when there's a guy sitting at the table in an alligator outfit (hypothetically).

We all know you've been in that outfit since quarantine started.

But have I been sitting at a table with any other Diplomacy players? Or have I been social distancing? ;)

I always blanche at the Star Wars avatar, though I suspect it means a lot to you. I can't help it. I secretly hope to see you've switched to the 'gator every time I read another AAR.

Of course FM does not play "normal" games. Who wants to be that boring anyway? That is part of what makes Diplomacy so fascinating.
