I just think the premise of the variant is 7 countries each with a different power. Nothing more than that really. Just a preference (or a gut feeling).

While I think rotating powers has some appeal, I'm not sure I like the idea more than the original. It seems more luck is in place instead of planning. Also, I felt the idea of this quick second run was now that we worked out the kinks of the variant, to have a much better try. I think this idea falls into a whole different category.

I will echo Stalin. I will play a rotating powers, and it does count as a vain rats...But I would rather it go closer to VR1, but how as you said you dont say exactly what 7 powers are in the game, and you switched up some of the powers.

As someone who likes to think a season or two ahead of time, I don't think I'd enjoy the VR2 option nearly as much as VR1. It's already difficult enough to anticipate how a player with a known power will use it and plan for it, let alone trying to figure it out all over again year after year after year.

It would certainly be interesting to watch, but tedious to play.

Attitudes, are you 100% sold on GMing this? What is your timeline? If not, I can step in and try this as my first GM. Let me know.

No, I'm not. I was going to GM so asudevil could play. If I did GM, I'd be starting the process sometime next week but you are more than welcome to take the bulls by the horn and go with it. I'll play if you GM.

If I get through Crowded (but that wont be soon), and this isnt started, I will GM it then.

I think we should play more closely to VR1 for the next time. There is potential in the rotating power variant, but it seems the kinks are hard to work out. Some powers just really don't work if you only have them for a year. For example Terrorist has the problem of needing an adjudication on what happens to unexploded mines (I'd recommend reducing it to one mine placement but allowing that placement to persist after the power rotates out), but bigger problems are such as Amphibian units. Also, for minor powers, anything affecting "original" units could really suck to get if all your original units are dead or in Syria (unless you're a Lepantoing Italy!)

One "variant" thought I had was that maybe your power wasn't really working out there would be an option to switch your power if it just really wasn't working out either limited to once per game or with a year "cool off" in which you have no power. Of course your selection would "bounce" if someone else had the power already or another player chose to switch to the same power as you at the same time. I don't necessarily think this is appropriate for VR2, but just something that crossed my mind.
