Game C 159269

3-3 draw in the Trieste Trophy so it goes to extra time

Please don’t discuss your own game on this thread but otherwise any general comments (no advice) from tournament players and others on the site are of course welcome.

We’re still looking for more reserve players to fill any vacancies that may exist later on so if you might be interested in helping please let us know.

Many thanks

Following the auto-surrender of the original Germany player in in game C 159269 a replacement player has joined that game with my agreement.

Thanks very much to the new player involved.

Hey,

I wanted to take a stab at scoring Game C to see if I correctly understand the scoring system. I'm basing my scores off this link which was mentioned in the OP:
http://www.world-diplomacy-database.com ... _scoring=1

The game finished as follows:
ENG - 0 centers; eliminated during F07 Retreats phase when France officially acquired Portugal
FRA - 11 centers
ITA - 2 centers
GER - 3 centers
AUS - 7 centers
TUR - 0 centers; eliminated during F05 Retreats phase when Russia officially acquired Smyrna
RUS - 11 centers

So we have a 2-way tie for top with no other player within three or fewer centers of the board leaders. The only powers eligible for the 'bonus points' component therefore will be France and Russia.

I score it as follows:
ENG - 7 points for each game year surviving = 7
FRA - [10 + (2*11) + (48/2)] = 56
ITA - [10 + (2*2)] = 14
GER - [10 + (2*3)] = 16
AUS - [10 + (2*7)] = 24
TUR - 5 points for survival up to the F05 Retreats phase
RUS - [10 + (2*11) + (48/2)] = 56

Question: I'm unclear as to how many years an eliminated power gets credit for. In the scored example displayed in the link above, the example England is shown as being eliminated in 1906 (so I assume their last center fell during the F06 Retreats phase at the latest). But, in that example England is awarded 6 points.
So, in my attempt at scoring Game C, I am considering Game C's England to have been eliminated (thus no 10 points for survival through the F07 Retreats phase) but I'm also awarding England 7 points since he controlled a center during the last game year.
And for Turkey in Game C, he voluntarily destroyed his last unit during the S05 Retreats phase. He lost control of his last center Smyrna during the F05 Retreats phase. So I'm giving Turkey 5 points for each game year he still controlled a center.

How's everyone else seeing this?

Elimination cannot occur until after fall retreats of a given year. Since there are no more moves to play and all disband are forced for winter, I would count that year as effectively complete for the eliminated player. Hence count the point for that year. So I agree with your assessment that eliminated in fall06 = 6 points.

I have a question for the pastis system. If a player in the retreat phase of 1907 still has an army but no SC's any more, does he count as being eliminated for point-counting purposes?

Yes its an interesting question re the survival

Especially England in Game C which I think applies to the_discourses and Shyvve points

If England had survived till the end then they would have survived so get 10 points

But they didnt so initially I was thinking 6 points but we could also go with 7. Since losing the SC in 1907 is better than 1906 they should get the extra point.

They would have needed a SC not a unit after retreat phase to score the 10

We should probably create a 2nd results page after Game A And Game B which is today

Hey all, do we have some sub-forum for the AAR's for this tourney, or do we just post them in the regular AAR forum?
