We are back to awards season again!
Every year, the PlayDip PbF community leaders like to recognize the victories and efforts of the players and GMs. Some of the awards are calculated based on the activity records of the players, while some are awarded based on player-driven nominations and votes.
2019 Full Vallhalla Records
Award Winners from Last Year (2018)
Qualification
In order to be eligible to nominate, vote, or receive an award for 2019 Valhalla, you must have GM'd or played in at least one (1) qualifying game to its conclusion. Games qualifying are those that ended in 2019 (regardless of when they began). Check the 2019 Valhalla Records (linked above) if you are uncertain as to which games ended in 2019.
Additional Rules
- You can make up new awards categories and nominate players or GMs for them. However, all Awards are positive. No negative awards will be given. Valhalla is intended to recognize positive achievement.
- Submit all nominations (and new awards categories) to NoPunIn10Did and NanookTheEskimo via PM. DO NOT make them here in the Forum.
- Nominations and new award suggestions are due at 1900 EST (2400 UTC) on the 31st of January, 2020. Voting, where applicable, will take place soon after.
- When voting does begin, please don't forget to do so. However, if you make a nomination for a single candidate for an award, but forget to come back and vote, we will go ahead and count that nomination as a vote.
- The list of final awards will be determined by the secret panel of judges (aka GM's).
[in other words, not all nominations will result in awards]
- This year we had an anomalous game in our Madison/Lee Testbed category: Canton @ vDip. Having played in that game will grant a player eligibility to vote and nominate, but that game will not be included in the count of a player's overall games played.
Automatically Calculated Awards
These are awards that don't require voting, as they're derived from the activity records in a more-or-less objective fashion:
- Best Record
- Busiest Player
- Busiest GM
- Busiest Overall
Open-Ended Nominated Awards
- Most Reliable
- Great Sport
- Most Fun Ally/Opponent
- Best Communicator
- Best Tactician
- Most Adventurous GM
- Best Replacement Player
- Best Dramatic Performance (for excellent press/roleplaying)
- The Turtle Award (for defending a difficult position)
Variant Awards (also requiring nominations)
- Best New Variant
- Qualifying variants must not have been played (i.e. finished) on the PlayDip forums in a year prior to 2019.
- The original variant creator(s) must have participated in a forum game that ended in 2019.
- This year's four qualifying variants are listed at the bottom of the 2019 Valhalla Records.
- Best Adapted or Updated Variant
- Qualifying variants are those that may have been created and played prior to 2019, but received a significant rules update (not only aesthetic) that was not playtested in PbF prior to 2019.
- The original variant creator need not be a PbF player or GM, but one of the persons designing the updated rules or map must be.
- This year, only one variant happens to qualify for this award.
