Group 5's elimination just finished. Group 1's is well underway. The problem is group 4's elimination game is yet to begin and Group 4's A game took 6-7 weeks to complete (!) If that pattern is repeated this could mean we are waiting for another month and a half on one game before we can carry on. Rick says there is nothing to be done so we will have to be patient. I just hope they finalise in that game...

The rules state that finalising is expected. There's no need to diplomatise - 2-player is effectively gunboat, after all - and I therefore hope that players will make a bigger effort to finalise where they haven't. The only way to move this forward is for me to do a draw for the First Phase, and start games for those who want to start them. Others, I'm afraid, will need to wait for the final qualifying games to finish.

I'll PM the qualified players sometime over the next few days with the proposal and see what the majority want.

Well I think the winners can get going. Most of us 'losers' likely have to wait since until the final elimination game is over before we can start since we don't know who the 'lucky loser' with the most SCs from 2 losses is....

Please do stress the finalising thing Rick for that final elimination game

Actually we could progress with most games. The structure rules for the first games in Phase 1 states:
Phase One.
(a) The 16 players will play each other. Players will not play anyone from their Qualifying Group, but the draw will be random apart from that.

We know 13 of the sixteen players. We're waiting the results of two Qualifying Phase Elimination Games which will give us our last three qualifiers. So we could start at least 5 of the First Phase games.

hey rick, suggestion from a replacement player ;)
put the remaining 3 players, let's call them A, B, C
then you figure out all 8 games, with 3 players being A, B, C. Then once the final qualifying round is over, plug them in, and voila!

Hey Rick the final result of my game is 24/10 not 24/14 as you reported on the official board...

The way I'm planning on doing it (if we go ahead) is to carry out a normal draw (with the exceptions mentioned above) with 16 entrants (if you know how FA Cup draws are done you'll know what I mean, but I'll explain it).

For instance: 1v9, 2v10, 3v11, 4v12, 5v13, 6v14, 7v15, 8v16.
If players 14, 15, 16 aren't confirmed, then the last three matches DON'T go ahead until they ARE confirmed (such as what happens if an FA Cup match results in a draw and needs a replay).

This kind of arrangement can continue throughout, although we are going to get to a point where no games can go ahead until all the previous rounds are finished. Not a lot we can do about that.
