Two random thoughts on two ideas. Strings:- have you considered a "pool" of strings. You mentioned maybe not going to the person you use the power on, but maybe they go in a "scumpool" or a "townpuddle". Leave donator anon, but then scum get strings from town, and town from scum. Might lead to shenannigans over people using them tho. Secondly, on no kills, an idea that maybe if you nokill then GM rolls a D6. If the number of nks is less than or equal to nokills so far then rand kill? Not sure how much these will stand up to scrutiny, but I thought I'd input so you can decide if there is any mileage.

As scum, I never felt I could use my string due to my situation in thread. But it was very useful to immediately have the team get strings on Strat and Gatbae, and know they were PRs, even if we had guessed it before.

The game quickly vanilla-ized, so we didn't get the chance to get too deep into the weeds, but the fun of strings was always potentially there. I like the mechanic.

O right I should post here

GG scum etc, I think their play Day 2 was very risky but ultimately paid off for them, wish I hadn't written off UDC but at the time I was a little too fixated on the fact that I had a guilty result on Justin. At some point with hindsight I decided the only towny thing about him was the argument with Justin and outside of that he wasn't towny, but I did not have the time to make that evaluation while ingame.

Anyway, fun game, thought the flavor/mechanics were great and creative, the stuff I like to see in forum mafia games that makes it feel like a unique experience.

I probably am going to be taking a vacation from mafia because I'm feeling fatigued but I'll be back sometime.

I've been on-and-off for years now, so I get it, but I very much hope to see you here in the future. In my opinion you've been in MVP contention for two games, if only your faction hadn't lost, so I figure it's only a matter of time.

Also, nobody but the two of us seemed to get your Monster joke.

I don't want to remove No Kills completely because I like the option, but I'm heavily considering making a "No team may no kill twice-in-a-row" rule part of my ruleset going forward. Having both teams not killing repeatedly is stupid (day 12, heh), but I also like the option to deciding not to kill a day/night once in a while because it makes sense in terms of game state rather than manipulating numbers. With the no-kill twice-in-a-row rule, it removes the manipulate numbers aspect. So a natural f4 town has no reason to No Kill, because then scum No Kills and town has to kill. The same way, on F5, scum can't force an F4 from an F5 miss-kill. (Scum holds on 4 from a 5 misskill, town no Kills, scum has to kill and bring it to f3). Does this seem like a good rule?

What do yall think of 24h nights vs 48h with/without speed deadlines? I like nights; they provide a breather from the action and also let the town take some time and recollect. Is 24hrs enough for that, though?

3/5 Hammer, do you like it or not??

Any design thoughts/complaints/things you really enjoyed?

I think that's a good rule regarding no holstering/no-killing twice in a row. 24 hours for night seems good, an issue with speed deadlines is it can let people make 'time zone' inferences if executed super quickly. I kinda prefer always having the full 24 both to eliminate this possibility and to give people a bit of a break. 3/5 hammer seems fine and good.

Regarding the design, I think town actually had a lot of firepower, and if we hadn't done so well in terms of getting PRs early (thanks Syn) we could have had a rough time. An under appreciated aspect of PRs is it can make it difficult for the scum to force misyeets through, since people often hesitate to yeet a claimed PR (e.g. Strat's claim had at least some part in Justin going down D2). Not having role information on death does mitigate this somewhat since the scum could potentially claim roles that belonged to dead townies. Anyway, I liked the creativity that went into the role design, I was hoping to use my death power to see the game spreadsheet in conjunction with my messaging power to send coded message from the grave communicating the roles, but never got the chance to. But it was an interesting idea.

Thanks Nimb for running this, it was very well run, and thanks everyone for playing especially our new players. Hope you stick around. While this was fun, mafia is also a huge time commitment and I am going to need to take a bit of a break, but should hopefully be back in a few months.

Also just want to plug that I've decided to finally run Scamdemonium mafia: viewtopic.php?f=307&t=62189

Probably in a week or two I'll start it if I have at least one or two more people. It's going to be a goofy chaos game if you can't tell from the setup, those are usually my specialty :D

I'm very curious about scum working out PRs so early and effectively. The Discord server on PRs looks to just be conclusions, not reasoning. Would I need to read the entire scumchat thread here or is there like a passage you could point to?

We kind of talked about it off and on, so there's not one specific passage. But essentially we caught PRs because they were... Talking about PR stuff. That principle exposed almost every PR.

Just curious, how did you hint that I was a PR?
