AK, you actually played well. I forgot this game had started until N1, so I did have the benefit of hindsight when going back and reading D1, but I think I would have read you as town had I been in the game. And in fact, having known you were town while reading the parts of D1 I read, I was able to read Justin as a wolf based on that. And arguably should have been more pinged on Synth. I get the frustration in general based on lots of your previous games.

I've taken long breaks of maybe six months or even almost a year off. I still had fun chilling in spec chat like you say you would if you stop playing for a bit.

I think you have actually improved a whole lot since I first started playing (and I think you had more or less started around the same time as well). I'm not gonna give too much grief to people who tend to vote for you early, but I'll say I don't envision it would keep happening so often in the future when/if you decide to play again. But I get the frustration from your point of view.
You don't know what I'm thinking...because I don't know what I'm doing.

You are learning the ways of paranoid town. Gooooooood.

AKFD wrote:I might just post the same thing I told Nimb though because I really need to get it off my chest:

Ever since WBZ Mafia, I feel like I can't regain my prowess on the game. And every single game, there's always the threat that I'm the first out given that no matter how hard I try, I'm going to make a substandard statement that gets me killed.

But yeah honestly, if I feel like I can't improve at my game, and if I'm always going to be persecuted on Day 1, I might just as well quit Mafia.

It's not becoming healthy for me anymore to always be the first out. I'll say that.

And honestly the scumteam played really well but boy did they really make me feel shitty that I was crying myself to sleep last night (the day before I was killed).

Caveat: "Quitting" mafia means quitting from playing. I'll still hang out with you guys.

The case on you was a total sham and had I been town I would've been absolutely livid and fought like hell to knock some sense into town and identify the scum pushing it.

I hope you play again, and I'm looking forward to it if you do. There's some sort of disconnect that has been happening with people suspecting the way you post that I think we are somewhat close to getting over. I think it just has to do with your desire to analyze things objectively. It makes people feel like you're not analyzing as town. But it's on us to get over that and stop miskilling you, because that is a totally valid perspective on the game.

Oh well, I'm actually relieved to lose to UDC and not Keirador because UDC really did play perfectly. Excellent job UDC, enjoy being the new holder of the Talisman of Greater Scumminess  . You've earned it.

I'm not unhappy with the outcome because UDC plainly outplayed us. I'm a bit frustrated with Keirador because I really felt like I was banging my head against a wall trying to talk to him. Maybe now he'll get that with hindsight that I spent hours writing things for him to read that were true just for them to be shrugged off as 'meh well shadow could play a perfect scum game', like I'm the only one who can do that. Kinda frustrating. I suppose he was being manipulated, though. I dunno.

AKFD, I'm really sorry about how we axed you. If you do play again I will deliberately try to be more considerate not only of the fact that you might not be a very good candidate, but also how personally challenging it must be to be frequently miskilled on day 1. I wasn't considering the second part in this game, just weighing up the odds of the first, so I'm sorry.

On the whole this was some of the highest play calibre I've seen around here in a long time. Very rewarding even if frustrating!

May I also propose another shuffling of metaphorical artifacts, in bestowing the Aura of Towniess upon Pbubs? I can't think of a player who has been comparably obvious as a villager since synth's early days.

That was a fun one. Totally wasn't banging my head against the wall for the last half of the game, I swear.
I feel bad for going absent for a while there, not that it matters now but work is what it is :P
Anyways, I don't know if I have much to add to the AAR but it was pretty fun. I feel Pinns on that, though, I'm dunno if mafia is the game for me lmaoooo I don't think I cope with the stress very well. Or...maybe I just don't like playing with Justin. If I keep playing though I'll strong arm Pinns into playing more, I'm sure he could be bullied into it convinced hehehe
UDC did great though I s2g when I got into spoiled spec chat and saw who it was I damn near yanked my hair out! GG for real man that was awesome
Take him to the principal's office and have him expelled!

Also Nimb, thanks so much for hosting and putting up with my shenanigans. You're a perfect GM and this was a very thoughtful setup which showed in how balanced it was - it came down to a pure gave of skill in the end which is great and can only happen when a game is run really well. Thanks! :)

Tbh Nook helps in looking at the designs and going, "wtf you thinking here, dude?". He suggested several adjustments over the original design and limitations to powers that made it more balanced. But all in all, I'm very happy with this one and really do think it's my best one to date. And tyvm for the compliment!

Probably no one noticed, but the Mummy's role is somewhat repurposed from an old game (that was flawed) I ran here: English Reformation. See Anne's role.

AKFD, I went after you Day One and came away thinking you were town. My later vote on you was just bad, and nobody's fault but my own. There was nothing about your play that led to that vote. It was just unavailability and panic on my part.

So to be clear from the start here, I ain't mad and I have no intention of starting a new mafia game in the AAR like I have sometimes been known to do. So not picking a fight, just to address your frustration, you know I was town and I wasn't lying when I said I was willing to talk to you about my reads and felt like you weren't really following up on it. You posted A LOT about yourself, and your posts were true, and I shrugged them off because you could play a perfect scum game. Totally valid, and I get being frustrated about that. But you and I weren't really connecting on the other two players left. We didn't finish talking about Pinns, and I don't think we talked about UDC at all, when he was always in my range and I thought I'd come into the final Day voting him. I'm also not saying this is your fault or assigning blame here, I could and should have brought up UDC more aggressively. Just noting that these things didn't happen, and suggesting that if you felt like you were banging your head against a wall trying to talk to me, the reason might not be that I'm a jerk who's mean to you, and might be because we weren't talking about the right things.
