Thoughts on Bouncing Yourself

Postby Crisu » 24 Nov 2008, 06:52

So a tactic to keep a space open is to bounce yourself in it. If Silesia is wanting to enter an empty Warsaw, but a Moscow and Ukraine need to protect it but also stay where they are, MOS-WAR and UKR-WAR will prevent SIL-WAR and also not have an accident in case SIL-H.

What goes on between the two armies when they bounce each other? Why can't they peacefully agree to let one army occupy the new area while the other goes back? Do they actually fight each other a bit before realizing they're on the same side? And then go back to their old territories like nothing ever happened? Are they left a little bit angry at the commander (you, the player) after having done that?

And what of the rule about not letting two armies change places. Can't two friendly armies just walk on by and wave to each other as they pass? Consider even a fleet and an army trying to switch places; they aren't even getting in each other's way! The fleet rides along the coast while the army walks along the beach. Instead an entire convoy is needed to switch the places of two armies. They must smell too bad to be walking alongside each other or something.

So what are our poor troops thinking about us whilst we argue amongst ourselves at the round table about this crazy act called diplomacy?

...Maybe we all have brainwashed troops that are trained to fire on anyone that isn't part of their unit, which is why two units of even the same nation can't be in one spot. How saddening that we put so much stress on our soldiers. But yet they do have the common decency not to dislodge their friendly units or support the dislodgement of such.

Something like that. Possibly more or less profanity, depending on their nationality.

Nah, they just walk over, see the other guys and say "oops, sorry about that" and walk back. No big deal. They are just happy not to be dislodged.

Dip, are you sure that you aren't a Canadian too?

When British and US forces are in alliance, it's usually called "Friendly Fire."

Maybe everyone is just wearing reaallllly large magnets set to yank em at enemies and fling them away from each other to prevent confusion (or maybe because we finally had a war in which nobody came so we attached them to the nearest statue and called it a day)

I love it when people self bounce ... I love it even more when i support one of their units.

I can hear the cries of anguish as one of the units actually moves allowing me to sneak into the SC that was just vacated.

I've always wanted to do that but have yet to find the opportunity. Supporting an enemy's army to move so they end up in a worse position.

It's like a pat on the back to your enemy -- comparable to a knife in the back to your friend.

Doesn't it go something like this:

Siegfried (Terence Stamp): How do I know you're not Control?
Maxwell Smart (Steve Carell): If I were Control, you'd already be dead.
Siegfried: If you were Control, you'd already be dead.
Maxwell Smart: Neither of us is dead, so I am obviously not from Control.
Shtarker (Ken Davitian): That actually makes sense.
