Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy Mafia: In Development

Postby Vilniusisaplace » 01 Jun 2012, 14:24

DON'T PANIC

That's right, it's HHGTTG.

This will probably end up running before RRM2 and The Factory, based on the amount of effort I've put in thus far, and the amount of interest, respectively.

I'll update this as I design the game further (along with friendly posts in the thread, so everyone knows), but for now... who's up for some expressions of interest? I want to get a rough idea of how big I should make the game for starters.

That should do us for now. I'll add more if needed.

Current Planned Features (Subject to Change):

  • Partially item-based.
  • Based across all (or at least most) of all renditions [TV Show, Movie, Books, Radio], with priority on Douglas Adam's work.
  • Two New Mechanics, The Babel Fish and The Improbability Drive.

Development Progress:

  • Creating Game Mechanics. Nearly Finished.
  • Receiving Expressions of Interest. In Progress.
  • Creating Rules. In Progress.
  • Creating Roles. Random Brainstorming.
  • Finalizing Number of Players. Not Started.
  • Creating Flavour Features. Not Started.
  • Final Polish of Game. Not Started.
  • Sending out Role PMs. Not started.

Yeah, even at this point I'm fairly serious about getting this happening.

My initial thoughts are as follows:

The rectangle has good proportions all around, but could be improved as follows:

1. Change the color something more eye appealing - perhaps a deep red or ocean blue, fuscia would be too much.

2. Perhaps centter it better in the body of the message, adding more white space around it.

3. Maybe remove your tagline and let the rectangle stand by its own, the tag line is too much noise.

Hope this helps!

Well, I'm not going to panic. But teasers like this do get you thinking.

Ahhh! Woooh! What's happening? Who am I? Why am I here? What's my purpose in life? What do I mean by who am I? Okay okay, calm down calm down get a grip now. Ooh, this is an interesting sensation. What is it? Its a sort of tingling in my... well I suppose I better start finding names for things. Lets call it a... tail! Yeah! Tail! And hey, what's this roaring sound, whooshing past what I'm suddenly gonna call my head? Wind! Is that a good name? It'll do. Yeah, this is really exciting. I'm dizzy with anticipation! Or is it the wind? There's an awful lot of that now isn't it? And what's this thing coming toward me very fast? So big and flat and round, it needs a big wide sounding name like 'Ow', 'Ownge', 'Round', 'Ground'! That's it! Ground! Ha! I wonder if it'll be friends with me? Hello, Ground!

Ok, I feel my hint has run it's course. Yes, I am making a mafia game based around The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy! :D

This should be fun.
