AKFD has been around long enough to know that everything matters. I've played scum with him multiple times, and I am pretty sure we've discussed opening tone as a thing we've both struggled with in the past. So the defensiveness present in his response to Shadow seems off. If he's town... he knows it was a town thing to say. But if he's not town... he may wondering why it didn't sound town.
And then following up on that, he doubles down on defensiveness with the wording of "grasping the concept of something as innocuous as". I am completely certain that AKFD knows he can be and has been caught as scum from his very first post if he fucks up, I've had a front row seat to it. So it just feels like a more defensive reaction than I would expect from a townie who wasn't trying to hit the right tone?

AK, I genuinely am trying to overlook tiny weird wording things more in this game than I have in the past, but I stumble over this line every time I read it and I want to ask some questions.
What were you thinking here when you wrote the line "If we can't rely on the night game to weed out the scum"? Has that ever been a thing we would rely on? Why did you phrase this in this way?

Let me clear this up a bit: I asked that question solely because I was mildly annoyed that Shadow would imply that I wasn't town for that, as I thought that was something in the line of my first post as town in previous games. Nothing more, nothing less.

Huh. It's interesting that it came to mind what your usual town opening is. I also don't see why this would "annoy" you if you had this readily available alibi of sorts in your past games.

Now you're getting invested.
