Five Player Diplomacy

Postby Yhanthlei » 04 May 2011, 01:59

I'm looking for players for a custom five player diplomacy variant map, and hopefully at least one or two backup players as well. Some information:

Rules: Standard diplomacy rules, notable there are two land provinces on opposite coasts (ste and bok) that ships can move through freely, like two constantinoples back to back.

Orders: I would prefer orders due in a 48/24/24 pattern, with an extended first order phase of course. I should be able to accommodate any necessary delays from real life matters, with a bit of advance notice. Two simultaneous NMRs, or three non-simultaneous NMRs, would disqualify a player for the game, to be replaced with a backup player. For our purposes missing a retreat phase and the following build phase would only count as one NMR.

Map: Included in this post. For a reference of some changes made to the map based on forum member suggestions, check the thread here: viewtopic.php?f=34&t=19320. The version of the map included in this post is the current definitive version, although if, before the game begins, all players agree to a certain map change I may be willing to make it.

Nations: The nations have no official title, I have been referring to them as either Red, Blue, Green, Yellow, and Purple or Orange Star, Blue Moon, Green Earth, Yellow Comet, and Black Hole. Feel free to choose for yourselves whatever titles you wish (although if it's too outlandish know that your fellow diplomats can call you what they like, too).

First phase: If a majority of players wish we could start with a build phase instead, otherwise the starting units are indicated on the map.

Please sign up if you're interested, and happy stabbing.

I'll try it. I would like purple. (I believe you have enough players now.)

Enough players, joy! We'll wait for either two reserve players or 24 hours, whichever comes first. In the meantime, please let the world know what you would like your leader's title to be, if any, and whether people want to start with a build phase or a spring order phase. The second concern is the more urgent, and in the vote is majority rules; without three votes in favor of a build phase we will default to the units shown. In this time I will also add that last province's name, thanks to Flight253's observation.

Nation assignments as follows:

Yellow: ray56
Purple: nautalus
Blue: Pedros
Red: naarkus
Green: Flight253

Mercenary Generals:
1: ___________
2: ___________

I vote for a build phase. This is pretty much my first forum game, but it looks fun. And when will this move over into active games?
I'd also like to say how awesome this map looks and the army and fleet pieces are the best pieces I've ever seen.

The Red Nations votes to jump right to it, and use the units we already have.
