Pure Diplomacy: Phase 1

Postby Palin » 09 May 2011, 23:34

Finally, we have our Phase 1 orders. Green and Blue are going for a safe approach. However, Yellow and Red seem intent on picking up battles early on. What will the next Phase bring?

A question about the support order: Can it be cut, like in normal Dip?
Red owns A, B and C and Blue owns D and E
A CLAIMS E FOR Red
B CLAIMS E FOR Red
C CLAIMS D FOR Red

D SUPPORTS E FOR Blue
E HOLDS

Does Red get E? Is D's "Support" cut, or would red have to "dislodge" the unit (such as if Red also had F CLAIM D FOR Red)?

I would say that the whole logic is that in order to "cut" any order it must be "dislodged" - more or less treat them as convoys. In this game terms, the only way to stop a territory's order is making it lose its claim.

If you think this is coming too late for your orders, I'm willing to grant a smal extension, even though I don't feel it is needed.

I think next time this would be better with more players.

I don't need an extension, and I agree with Shavemybaby. It is a little weird, because in normal dip, if you go to war one place, you leave another undefended, because you are still at peace there (or at least less defended). But becausse thare are only four of us, it is a really big commitment to go to war everywhere. Thus everyone is hesitant to make the first strike.

No, I think that by next phase the map will start quickly filling up with different colors and different players claiming and reclaiming territories.

In less than 20 hours, you'll notice that if there were more than 4 players, it would be a mess :)
