You wouldn't need 7 games. You could set it up like Rick initially set it up. Your game score (however it is determined) is put in with the 3 others who played Russia, and then you get something like (your score/total of all Russia's scores).

I don't believe the averages look at gunboat individually just the site overall (I could be wrong). Also do they exclude chaos? If an even amount of gunboat/classic/non-variant games were played that bared out those stats then that makes sense.

Honestly I didn't look at the full scoring system as I am not a "mathy"

No I won't be normalising games. With the balance of countries it shouldn't be needed. Also, as I said, the normalisation system only really works when there is no solo unless it takes in more games than the four that will be played.

OK. Then I'd think you probably want to make your tiers different. Instead of middle, corner, and Russia you might want to do France/Turkey, Eng/Ger/Aus, and Russia/Italy. Or just Russia/Italy vs Not. There'd be 7 players needing to take 8 Russia/Italy spots though so one unlucky person would need to get one of the bad countries twice, maybe that person could get France and Turkey to balance it a little.

Or just go crazy and have a 7-game, totally-balanced tournament. :D

No I'll stick with what I know is currently working with the Classic League for now for the first season. Certainly sticking to a four-game season, as changing that is changing too much. If I get the time I will examine past Gunboat games and see how they panned out and maybe review the process. But I'm looking to having the tournament start in about two weeks and the time will have to be found before then.

You're in. although at the moment, just below the competition line which means you're down as back up. I believe we have 28 in the list above the line as I added (a name who contacted me to say he thought he was already signed-up, so I'm waiting now for him to get back to me.

So, the format with 28 will be:
Div 1: 7 players, bottom two relegated.
Div 2: 7 players, top two promoted, bottom three relegated.
Div 3: fourteen players split into two separate pools of seven. The winners of each pool are promoted, along with the best scoring second placed player.

If we get to 35, the format will be:
Div 1: 7 players, bottom three relegated.
Div 2: fourteen players split into two separate pools of seven. The winners of each pool are promoted, along with the best scoring second placed player; bottom two from each pool relegated.
Div 3: fourteen players split into two separate pools of seven. Top two from each pool promoted.

Gotcha. Last four people signed-up, at the moment, as reserves, unless we can get to 35.
