Does anyone object to a 1 week delay for Bats?

Not really. Considering that we still need someone to step in for Samarkand, decipher the distribution of players for games, find out who's still with us and who should be included from the waiting list (which also need to be rediscovered) and finally get everything going, I think we'll all benefit from a prolonged break. :)

Probably a good idea, yeah.

I'd volunteer to help manage the tourney in Samarkand's place, but as I'm already running World Dip 2 at the same time, it's probably best for me if I don't. But whoever does want to do it, I've figured out as best we can who should be playing who in the next games. It's really not all that exact (almost everyone is "paired up" with another person, meaning the two of them are players A and B, but we don't know which one is which - we'll have to decide that ourselves.)

One thing though - looking at the list of players, several of them are MIA at the moment. Spit, for example. It may be best to send out a mass PM or email to make sure everyone is still present and willing to play. We may need replacements.

My offer to help out is still on the table. Neither MR nor Dip should have to drop out to run the tourney. Creating eight games and sending out passwords won't be a problem. Rounding up the 28 guys is more of an issue. If we have the list with replacements the games can mapped out. I've looked at Sam's system briefly to decipher what everyone's code is. Some are obvious, some are ambiguous, but like MR said, its arbitrary from there. Its kind of a fun logic problem, actually.

That sounds like a great offer IMO, 3xFrank, and if Sam doesn't get back very soon, then we should gratefully accept.

Sounds great. Thanks guys.

3xFrank, your help would be excellent - at least until we can raise the ransom for Samarkand.

I like the idea of Frank doing it. That sounds good. (Though you'll only be able to create 3 of the games, due to limits on game creation for each user. Dip and I can help you out there, though.)

I can help as needed too. Also the player list is in the same post as Bits points breakdown.

I agree, I know some of those players are taking a break, or just gone, so Uncle Monty had the waiting list and those spots should be filled.

I still have the waiting list on a spreadsheet at home. So no problem there. I am more than grateful for all the help offered to run things by all concerned and I am still willing to do my part too. Last time Samarkand drew up the game lists and I handled people joining, dropping out and replacements.

Do we know what needs to be done with regards to rounds 3 & 4 and the assignation of competitors?
I think we have to assume that Samarkand won't be back unless we hear differently...

Yeah, I'm reasonably sure I can break down the player assignments into the proper games according to Sam's system. So I think its just a matter of figuring out how many departures from the original 28 we have, and getting players from the waiting list into the tournament. That way we have 28 active players for rounds 3 and 4.
