I want him to still be in the tourney.

Is there more than one game?
Do you hear the people sing,
Lost in the valley of the night,
It is the music of a people,
Who are climbing to the light,

For the wretched of the earth,
There is a flame that never dies,
Even the darkest night must end,
And the sun will rise

Yes, that's why there are now multiple teams, much like the Doubles Tourney

Will QoH and I know who each other are, like the Doubles tourney?

I think that's the way it is for every pair...

Hopefully soon. WSmith, Pedros and I are trying to agree who will actually run it and play the CD country

It seems I've been chosen to GM the whole thing. Last news from QoH is that the Whippersnappers have 3 pairs, so it's all go. Oldies can muster 5 or 6, so if the others can get any more we can start extra games a bit late - though there will have to be a deadline, otherwise there'll be too much scope for the later games being affected by the likely results of the earlier ones.

It's 7am here, so I'm only doing catch-up at the moment, but later today I'll post the rules for the competition - you should all check the anonymity rules, and it's certainly worth having a look at the scoring rules, which are at viewtopic.php?f=27&t=12768&p=165571#p165571. And as soon as the 3 captains confirm the pairings then I'll get the games set up.

How it all works

Postby Pedros » 29 Apr 2010, 08:57

Just so that everybody is clear, this is the set-up.

1. Each capain sends me a list of their 3 pairings, numbered 1, 2, 3. All the 1s play in Game 1, etc.
2. The countries which each pair play will be drawn randomly. No team will play the same pair of countries twice. I will then PM each player with a note of which game they are in and which two countries the pair is playing (and the Password). It is up to the players to decide who will play which country.
3. The games will be by Preference. It is important that each player enters their country under all three preferences to make sure that the draw works out correctly. I will ask each other play to send me a private message in Spring 01 to make sure that nothing has gone wrong! (If it does the game will be void!)
4. As soon as the game starts I will post in the Shoutbox identifying the Civil Disorder country. I wil enter only Hold and Destroy orders for that counrty (to avoid a surrender).

From then on it's up to you. If for any reason you have to leave the game, it is vital that you inform your captain beforehand; he will arrange an immediate replacement. We haven't agreed penalties for breaking this rule (they existed, and were used, in the Doubles tournament), but if a surrender affects the outcome of a game and one of the other teams objects, then who knows what might happen :?: :!: :!:

The scoring system (a bit complicated, but worth being aware of) is at viewtopic.php?f=27&t=12768&p=165571#p165571

Have fun - it's a whole different feeling knowing that you're supposed to have an unbreakable alliance!
