Heptarchy

Postby sroca » 15 Mar 2009, 20:29

Okay so it's time for me to propose another variant. Seems like variant overload now but that's what makes this site so much the better.

Information on Heptarchy can be found at http://www.diplom.org/Online/variants2.html#h but I'll list some general information.

Heptarchy is a map of Britain set in the Dark Ages. The game begins in Spring 651. All the rules are the same as standard diplomacy so this should be an easy game to get started. The countries are as follows: (with a few modifications from the website since some SC names were different)

Wow! A game set in The Homeland!

Looks good to me. I'd suggest writing the province names in full and making the image larger before putting units on it. (Sorry if saying that was pointlesss because you were going to do it anyway.)

Wow I didn't even think about that.
I just liked Anglia's starting position.

I'd also like to second Julano's request for a map with the territory names.

Your comment about my name led me to do some research:
Wikipedia's article on William II of the Netherlands, Prince of Orange wrote:In 1815, William became crown prince and he took service in the army when Napoleon I of France escaped from Elba. He fought as commander of 1st English Corps at the Battle of Quatre Bras (16 June 1815) and the Battle of Waterloo (18 June 1815), where he was wounded. He showed personal courage and energy, but frequently displayed atrocious military judgement, leading to many heavy casualties. The Duke of Wellington attributed this to his lack of command experience, however, rather than to him being a bad leader.
